This mountain has many nice trails with varying degree of difficulty –depending on your interest, but overall a leisurely hike.
The summit has beautiful views (also known for hawk watching), a great place to feel the breeze and have a picnic.
You can park at the summit and don’t have to lug your foods with you during the hike. Please be sure to have enough water for the hike.
Admission is free.
1- 3 hours depending trails.
Potential dates: a weekend in July TBA.
Carpool - we encourage carpooling. Passengers will help chip in for gas & tolls. If you can offer a ride - please note that in your RSVP. And if you need a ride indicate that as well.
For example "need a ride, can meet at Davis Square T stop". or "can give a ride coming from Allston".
You can explore the Southern Maine area in the morning (Kittery outlet, downtown Portsmouth, etc) and wrap up the trip with a nice relaxing hike and sunset at Mt. Agamenticus in the evening. I usually go during 4-5 PM time frame on a hot day and heat is not a problem. Choosing the later time avoids the crowds and better for hawks viewing. If you stay late enough you can catch the sunset and also avoid the traffic back to Boston that peaks around 4 pm -6 pm on weekends.
Update: due to the extreme hot weather for tomorrow and for everyone's safety, we may need to schedule this for next Saturday (July 13). It will depend if we are down to less than 6 people.
Please let me know by 8:00 AM tomorrow (July 6)
