Lunch near CBI

So a bunch of us are going sailing this Sunday. One group in the morning, another in the afternoon. In between, we will eat lunch some place nearby.

I'll pick the place later based on group input.

You _don't_ have to be in the sailing meetup to join us. You can come even if you aren't sailing with us, and you can skip lunch and do your own thing even if you are sailing.

POLL: Chris suggested doing a picnic out by the water/grass, instead of eating in. Let us know what you think.

John, sorry I have to cancel last minute, having an upset stomach which is why I went on their website to look at the menu and saw the opening time. Hope you find something good to eat!

Hope you feel better soon. We ended up doing a picnic on the Esplanade. We had a good time.

do they have a deli / whole food around...if the weather is nice, outdoor picnic would be awesome

    July 2, 2013

    • Chris

Not if there is a good deli nearby, we just go in, pick what we want and walk into the park / sun, hardest part be finding a cool piece of shade

There are couple little markets & shops on Charles street on right hand side walking from Charles river that sell sandwiches & pre-prepared foods. Good stuffs & very pricy!!!

    Hi all,
Apparently the King & I is closed for lunch on Sundays.
Since changing the meeting spot at this late hour would cause some chaos, let's keep King & I as a meeting spot. We'll decide if we're doing a picnic or eating in a restaurant during our morning sail, based on the weather.
If we do a picnic, we'll pick up some sandwiches from Panificio, some drinks, etc. and head to the Esplanade.
If we eat indoors, we'll go some place nearby, like Harvard Gardens (316 Cambridge St).
We'll try to wait for people at the King and I as long as possible so try not to be late and keep us waiting too long.
If you get there late and we're not there, give me a call at [masked] .

    John
P.S. We might end up eating lunch at a pub so bring your IDs.

Hi had a great time today. And also burned out. I'll skip the lunch and come to the 3pm sailing directly. Have a good midnight.

John, weather looks really nice on Sun for now, could we just pick something up from panificio a block away (their takeout menu looks decent http://www.panificioboston.com/takeout_menu.pdf) and eat on the grass / by the water?

Lol. Good point. Lets see. I am open to picnic. But since I am new here. I'll just follow the pack.

Forecast for tomorrow is brutal. I think most people will prefer to be indoors.

Suggestions welcome. Please pick a place that can accommodate a big group. There are many nice restaurants on Charles Street for instance, but usually they're more crowded than the Tokyo subway during rush hour. If no suggestions, I'll flip a coin and pick between the King&I, the Clink, or Harvard Gardens. As soon as I find a 3-sided coin.

And thank you very much for offering to bring food for us. Are you sure you wouldn't like to come sailing with us? We have some space on the 10am and 1pm boats.

No worries, John! Potluck another time! Unfortunately I can't make the sailing thing. I'm afraid I have some pretty intense hydrophobia (long story!) and I need to head in the office for a couple hours tomorrow afternoon (boo!).

I'm cool with either choice. Love Thai food and picnic is fun too! :)

    *hands up for picnic*

I can make some stuff---I am making up a bunch of homemade potato salad (with homemade mayo) for tomorrow and may have a lot leftover. I can make up some veggies and stuff too.
(I have way too much time on my hands)

    Hands up for picnic!

if indoors, I go with king and I, hard to screw up thai food

    July 2, 2013

    • John

King & I is decent. I'm thinking brunch/Bloody Mary at Clink might be good too.

      July 2, 2013

    • Chris

I agree but can't afford to get my blood alcohol % too high before a match and I always manage to do it at Clink

      July 2, 2013

  • John

OK we go with Thai. Clink can be expensive, and I don't want to give sticker shock to people who are not familiar with the place.

I don't care where we go as long as the food is good!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
