I'll be visiting from California for a few days in mid-October, so I can do one last sailing meetup this year. This will be on the weekend of October 18/19. Actual day will be picked later, based on weather forecast.
Sail on the Charles, and lunch nearby. Lunch location TBD. I can take 1 group of 7 in the morning (10am), then another group in the afternoon after lunch (2pm).
Best way to get to CBI is to get off at the Charles/MGH T station (red line). Once you're out of the T station, look for the foot bridge to the left of the Longfellow bridge, that takes you over Storrow Drive and to the Esplanade. The boat house is right by the foot bridge.
Parking can be difficult in the area. If you can't find street parking, you can park at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary parking lot, and I can get your parking ticket validated for $7. However the entrance to this lot is not easy to find if it's your first time, and if you miss it, you'll easily lose 15+ minutes.
If your situation changes, and you can't make it, please update your RSVP to "no" as soon as possible.
If this is your first time at Community Boating, ask for a guest waiver form at the front desk and fill it out. You should also ask for a guest card.
If you've been to CBI before, bring your guest card. It's $5 to get a replacement card, if you don't bring it.
Sailing sometimes involves getting splashed with water, so you want to wear something you don't mind getting a bit of Charles river water on.
They have day lockers. Bring a lock if you want to use one.
Once I pick a date, I'll create a separate meetup for lunch. Please RSVP there if you're planning on joining us for lunch. You don't need to join us for lunch, even if you are sailing, and you can join us for lunch even if you aren't sailing.
