“Rites of Passage” Quicksilver Dance Performance

The dances in “Rites of Passage” will bring you back in time to many different ages of humanity:

  • "Epoch Tales" is back by popular demand! Eight dancers echo the movement of various life-forms throughout evolutionary history, illuminating how the world may have moved from protozoa to primates.

  • “Got Art?” takes you on a journey through the history of consumerism, using text and movement inspired by print advertisements of the last hundred years.  This new dance promises to make you laugh out loud and think different(ly) about your daily dose of ads.

Tickets are free of charge, but reservations are requested:
[masked]

Please RSVP/meetup here and the above email address as well. Only about 100 seats available - so do make reservations early.

How to get to Simmons hall at MIT. It would take about a 12 min walk from Central Sq or Kendal (Red Line). Parking along Vassar street is free after 6 pm. Simmons Hall is not too far from BU Bridge. The receptionist will buzz you in as you come to the glass entrance door.

It was nice to see old and new faces at Saturday's meetup. Did everyone get in who came? Hope I didn't miss anyone!

I heard back from Quicksilver. It is possible to "stand by" for no-shows, so I will be there ...

As Eric notes, this is now full.

Hello, everyone. Hope all have stayed well and safe this week. Tonight's event is ON, but at this point they have taken the maximum of reservations. I will be at the entrance with a sign to greet you. See you then, Linda

I emailed Quicksilver last night when I RSVPed. Just now heard back from them that the event was already full. I suspect that those who RSVPed after me are in similar straits. I've asked them if I can "stand by" for a cancellation, so I will remain a 'yes' until I hear back.

Hello, everyone. Since the event will happen at MIT, do you know if it is still confirmed after the sad shooting right there? I did not get any cancellation msg from Quicksilver Dance, but just wanted to check with you. Thank you.

So, are you coming? I'd love to battle this out in person! (I warn you, I will surrender almost immediately, as in any battle of wits I am unarmed.)

Hi, everyone! This should be a really terrific performance. I met the choreographer last summer and she is a very creative and engaging artist. Though tickets are free, please be sure to RSVP at the dance group's website as listed above in blue. It won't be enough for you to sign up with the Nomads, as Quicksilver needs to know how many people are coming in order to abide by safety laws regarding capacity. I'll look forward to seeing you there! --Linda

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
