Indian Summer Film Series: Amar Akbar Anthony (Free Movie)

Amar Akbar Anthony is a 1977 Bollywood film about three brothers who were separated during childhood and who grew up in three separate homes, adopting different religions. The film was directed by Manmohan Desai and features Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, and Rishi Kapoor. Amar Akbar Anthony was the biggest blockbuster of 1977 and won several Filmfare awards. We encourage you to join us! This film screening is open to the public. (Harvard South Asia Institute)  185 min. (= 3 hrs!) Comedy/Action, Hindi with English subtitle. Bring a jacket or something, the auditorium is air-conditioned cold last year. If you get there early, there are free simple Indian snacks and soft drinks available just outside the auditorium.

How to get to CGIS Building 1730 Cambridge St. from Harvard Sq Station (Red Line)

Walk across the Harvard Yard and exit the Yard at Quincy St or Science Center and find Cambridge St. (near the fire station/Broadway Market/Cambridge Ringe & Latin) About a 6 min. walk from the T station. Car parking - very Limited. Try meter parking (feed until 6 pm) at Oxford St/Kirkland/Cambridge St/ Mass Ave. Do not park around the Common or close to Harvard Sq (you can park there only for 2 hrs. max)

S010 is on the concourse level (basement) and called Tsai Auditorium. From the front door (a security person is there) of CGIS south on 1730 Cambridge St, you will see stairs to go down on the right, and the door for S010 is few steps out from the end of the stairs. I'd recommend Meetup BCN people to sit in the middle to have the best view of the movie and I will be there with a meetup sign.  If you get there late see you after the movie for food/drink (info below).

Post Movie Dinner (optional): We will go to Maharaja Indian Restaurant at Harvard Sq (57 Jfk St, Cambridge, MA 02138) afterward around 8:30 pm. Please indicate below "join conversations" if you would like to join the dinner. for the restaurant info.

Their food price example: Chicken Tekka $15.95 Vegetarian Mutter Paneer  $14.95 Lamb Shadi Korma $16.95. (you may have just a drink/tea.) We do not recommend to have just salad in Indian restaurant in general (some tried before). Good curries, good decos, and good reviews count.

This was my first Bollywood movie, which I managed to sit and watch through the whole 3 hours. It was well made "classic" busy Bollywood, so time passed like lightening. Some of us went to Zoe's kitchen, not Maharaja, for dinner. It was nice to meet and sit together with you folks to enjoy the movie, chats, and food.

Hi folks for Classic Bollywood movie tomorrow (Thurs),
As I posted I will be just outside of the auditorium in the basement with a meetup sign from 5:15pm until 5:30. and we try to sit together in the middle, if possible. For those who arrive late, we can meet after the movie - I will stand and wait at the same place near the exit door of the auditorium with a meetup sign for 5 min. after the movie. Then we will walk to Maharaja, if enough people are interested. My cell phone no:[masked] 7258. (But i cannot guarantee I pick up in time). There will be Indian snacks/refreshments available just outside the auditorium and remember - air-con cold inside. See you folks tomorrow.

The movie start is a bit early, it is going to be tough for me to arrive on-time. I will do my best. Depending on how people feel afer the movie, maybe we can go out somewhere to eat and drink something.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
