Discovery Ensemble Concert: Mozart, Ligeti & Sibelius

The Discovery Ensemble is a wonderful new orchestra here in Boston with the dual purpose of offering great concerts to the public and also has an important educational mission in public schools where there is no musical education. Check them out at discoveryensemble.org. The program is - Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466 (Shai Wosner, piano); Ligeti: Melodien; Sibelius: Symphony No. 6.

A bit of a quirky combination with three such distinct composers, styles and periods but all great works!

The deal is: for their Opening concert October 20th at 3pm ½ price tickets in all price categories Tickets will be available in advance or on the day of the concert (subject to availability). To order tickets in advance, members may call or visit the Jordan Hall box office [masked]) and use the password “art and architecture” for the discount. Discount tickets range from $10 to $16.

I will be hosting in the Jordan Hall Lobby on the far right hand side across from the box office which is far left. I’m Looking forward to meeting and greeting everyone there.

    Thanks to everyone for coming to the Discovery Ensemble Concert yesterday. I hope all of you enjoyed it. I only got to see a few people afterward but everyone I chatted with had very positive reviews. I personally loved the performance of the Sibelius. I’m wondering what others thought and particularly did people enjoy the Ligeti? I heard dissenting views of that with some folks just loving it and others not so much.

    I apologize to the folks I did not get to meet. The T took so much longer than anticipated and I arrived at Jordan Hall 15 minutes later than I planned. I was in the spot I promised with a meet up sign but I assume some people went in before I got there. I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet more of you.

    Rameau: Suite from Les Boreades;
    Beethoven 5th Symphony. Thanks again and look forward to the next concert!!!
