Wednesday, July 4, 5:30 pm
St. John the Evangelist Church
35 Bowdoin Street, Boston
Reception to follow (light refreshments)
This is a free concert: Donations gratefully accepted
Regarding getting to the event, the best way is to take the T to Park street, walk up Park (towards the State House), turn right on Beacon, then left on Bowdoin. St. John's is down the hill on the left. You'll pass a lovely park on your left and another church on your right. It's only about a 10-minute walk from the T station, and there will be extra trains on hand tomorrow. (That's the least they could do with the fare hike!)
We've added a nice addition to our program--a young tenor from New England Conservatory will join us in the Townsend piece and lead us in singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy". No vocal talent on your parts required!
I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing this special day.
After the reception, we can go to a restaurant nearby (e.g., in Chinatown) for dinner before the fireworks, if you wish. The church is located in central Boston near Chinatown and the firework locations.
