Flight (the movie)

  • Nov 22, 2012 · 6:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

It’s Thanksgiving! Let’s go to the movies!

Flight was already on my list of movies to see, but I became even more interested after reading an article by Chris Faraone in the Boston Phoenix ( and hearing his interview with Callie Crossley on WGBH as part of her Boston Public Radio show ( -- look for the “Listen” link). For those of you who are interested in some background about aircraft pilots, unionization, poor management at American Airlines, and the state of the US airline industry, you can check out the links to the article and the interview.

Or you can come and be purely entertained! **No prior reading required!**

Flight stars Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Melissa Leo, and Don Cheadle. The movie is directed by Robert Zemeckis.

I will purchase my ticket at around 6:15 p.m., then wait in the theater lobby between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. Look for me and my red backpack. At about 6:30, I will move into the theater auditorium. You can find me there if you are late. The movie starts at 7:00 p.m.

After the movie, I will wait in the theater lobby to gather everyone. Look for the red backpack.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend this event.

Flight is a great story and a great movie. Not your typical story at all. Denzel Washington was wonderful in the title role, and each member of the supporting cast could have carried the movie, too.

Zeik (or is it Zahra?): If we can find a coffee shop that's open, we can go for a post-movie discussion. It's very difficult to find anything open on Thanksgiving, based on my own experience. But one never really knows from year to year. We'll find out for ourselves tomorrow!

Hi Marianne. Are there any post-movie plans for ice cream or coffee etc?

I have posted this event with another group. No need to RSVP with more than one group. But do please keep your RSVPs updated if you change your mind. Thank you.
