Free Day at the MFA

Dear Boston Culture Lovers,

The MFA is free all weekend and Memorial Day Monday.

I know this is short notice, however the most fun that happens in life is spontaneous!  Also, the weather is expected to bad this weekend, so what a great way to spend a rainy day, indoors in one of city's finest museums!

Lets meet in the lounge area of the  Sharf Visitors Center on the first floor inside the museum at 1pm.

There are a few couches next to the visitor help desk, lets meet there. The Sharf Visitor Center is adjacent to the New American Cafe.

I would like to spend 15 minutes or so before heading into the exhibits to talk and introduce ourselves.

Here is a link to a map for the first floor, http://www.mfa.org/sites/default/files/MFA_Map_May2013_Level1_0.pdf.

I expect that there may be crowds and some prolonged waiting times standing in lines. It may not be that bad for this is a free, three day event, however I would like for you to prepare and plan ahead. Please leave give yourself extra time to travel and to stand in line.

If you are late, I can not guarantee that you will be able to find the group for this will be a roaming event. So please plan to arrive way early for this event so you do not miss the group.

I know we have some early birds, if people want to arrive much earlier and enjoy the museum on their own and then join the group at 1pm, I think that would be a great idea.

I ask that you only reserve "yes" if you are definitely attending. For these events to be successful and less stressful, I need to know who and how many people to expect.

I am looking forward to meeting you all.

Joana

This was a great event! A special thanks to Kenny for tipping us that there was no line, now waiting at the rear entrance. The highlight was the samurai exhibit. We had so much fun taking photos behind samurai masks and playing pretend. It is nice to be young at heart. A special thanks to Olga for playing pretend with me. It was also nice to have hung out afterwards at Pizzeira Uno, even the service was terrible, when you are in good company, all is much bearable. Thanks for sharing your part of your company this holiday weekend.

Great meetup at the museum and afterward at UNO's (well initial food service, not so much, but it ended up great just from the company). Once I go through all the pics I took and pare it down some, I will upload them...

I'm in the area early. The line in the front is ridiculous ...go around to the back of the museum. There is an entrance there, and the line will be shorter.

The back entrance is the one with the creepy giant Gerber baby head statues.

There is also street parking around Gainesborough St. Since it's Sunday, you don't need to feed the meter!

Sorry for canceling but I saw a line outside the MFA on the news. The line was ridiculous, which means it'll be hard to time it to meet, and I'm just not into the crowds. I'll catch the Samurai exhibit another time, maybe make it an event.

I was thinking of getting to the MFA this weekend and want to catch the Samurai exhibit. I was also thinking about a spontaneous event. I'll think about it and RSVP as soon as I decide if Sunday works for me.
