Boston Ballet's Night of Stars - on the Common

  • Boston Common

Charles St and Beacon St, Boston, MA (map)

    42.356209 -71.069435

  • Will let you know closer to the date
  • Let's go to this free performance of Boston Ballet on Boston Common.

    Checkout the event at: http://www.bostonballet.org/nightofstars/

The show starts at 7pm so let's meet at 5pm to get seated. Feel free to bring food, something to sit on, etc.  I'm not planning to organize a picnic as the group is too big.

I'll provide more details about how to find each other as the date approaches.

It's ok to RSVP now and update later but as the date approaches.  Since this will be a big, free, fluid event, we can be lenient about RSVPs.  As the date gets closer, I'll figure out a way for you to find me, and send out my cell phone # to attendees.  I'm going to go around 5pm because I like to watch dance from where I can see it.  If you want to come later, that's fine.  I just can't guarantee that we can hold enough space for the whole group together.  I'll do what I can.  If some could arrive closer to 5pm to help me hold the space, that'd be really helpful.

I'm sure we'll have a fun evening and see some good dance.  Boston Ballet is very good.

I don't know if you'll see this but the 40+ and Loving Boston meetup just posted an event for this.

As this event grows, I am beginning to wonder if it would be better to designate a meeting spot outside the Common at which to meet, then go get our spot together. If you would prefer to meet at a time other than 5pm, please post a comment. I may revise the meeting time if people generally want to come later. I will provide a cell # and way of identification within the Common, but I suspect this will be tough.
Also, it's about 3 weeks away. Please update your RSVP if your plans change.

Would anyone be interested in taking over leadership of this event? I won't back down unless someone else steps up, because I don't want to let down this many people. Just wanted to see if it could work. Or maybe a few people could act as co-leaders. If so, please comment or send me a note at [masked].

I think I"m going to use a colorful umbrella to indicate our area. You'll have to walk toward the stage and find us. I found a blanket and a beach towel I'll contribute. The beach towel is black and white, and has the 5 ballet positions, the old NYCB design.

Apparently balloons may be the way to go to find each other. That's kind of cumbersome. Anyone know a place to get balloons near the Boston Common? Keep those ideas coming. Thank you!

Wow! Look at all this interest. I'll have to figure out a good way of finding each other. Given the size, I will not be coordinating picnic plans with everyone. That's too much. If you know any attendees, you could coordinate with them. Otherwise, please bring a picnic dinner and we can eat together. Also, if you have a blanket or something to sit on, please bring it and share with others. This will be fun.

Pleasantly surprised at the quick and numerous interest for a dance performance. :)
