October Travel Meetup

Come join us on Oct 29 at Porter Square for our monthly meetup. Get travel ideas from fellow travelers, and share your own travel stories!

Our concept is simple: meet other travelers or expats, talk about where you've been and where they've been, and get inspired for your next trip. Everyone with an open mind and sense of adventure is welcome, whether you're a travel novice or an experienced travel junkie.

This month we'll meet at Tavern in the Square @ Porter Sq. This is a very accessible location; There is parking closeby, and it's literally a 1 min walk from the T (red-line) - just exit the T station and walk down Mass Ave, away from the big Porter Sq parking lot. There are lots of convenient bus connections too. We'll be in the front area, to the right of the bar.

Each month, we generally switch back and forth between Porter Sq and White Horse Tavern in Allston. We're also considering future options in other neighborhoods - suggestions are welcome!

Please note: Active solicitation of members at our meetups by commercial organizations is contrary to the spirit of the group. Please stay away if you are a travel company just looking to promote your business! Thank you!

As always, a wonderful way to spend the evening. I had the good fortune to find a couple of people interested in volunteering for a National Geographic Traveler Photography seminar. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ngtseminars/seminars/digital-photography-basics.html

Unfortunately, one of those people can't make it so there's now an opening for one more. The first person to email me privately at [masked] with your phone number will be selected. I'll let you know. Then, I'll post again here when we get someone.

The seminar is this coming Sunday morning, November 10 at Boston University. The seminar goes from 9-1 but volunteers are required to be there from 7:45 am to help set up and take registration, help at break time, and stay until 2 pm or so, depending on breakdown requirements.

    Thanks so much,

    Mara

I am retied and live in Bangkok, but travel elsewhere as time and money allow. Just back from three weeks in Ecuador, including Galapagos. What a wonderful, inexpensive and fun outdoor destination. For three months each year I live in New London, NH, where I currently am. I am looking forward to meeting other travelers at my first Travel Meetup meeting.

Would love to know how the Galapagos can be inexpensive!? Would like to meet you in any case...

Judi I hope to get to Tuesday's meeting and will talk to you about Galapagos if I do. Best budget recommendation for travel there is . . . do not book anything in advance. It is plenty inexpensive if you just show up and shop trips. Only exception is diving; most expensive, most physically challenging, coldest, and least ethical dive shops in my ten years of diving (over 300 dives).
