Boston's First Official Google Meetup

Hello,

Welcome to Boston's first Official Google Meetup! We're excited to announce Google Search Evangelist, Adam Lasnik, and others will be on hand to answer questions, mingle and talk about all things Google.

Plan is to start with a few question from you. So please visit our Moderator page (http://bit.ly/3UArKt...) to submit questions and vote on them in advance of the meeting.

First round's on us. Thanks, and look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Hey Josh, re: your question about inexpensive hotels: I've found Priceline to be quite helpful! I got a $259/night room at the Hyatt Regency (in Boston, not Cambridge) for $66/night.

Will this be a one-time thing, or should we except this to a weekly meet-up?

Hey it will be nice to meet more locals. Is anyone else interested in the issue of transparency wrt goog penalties and appealing them? Currently businesses that rely on search can be killed with no recourse and no explanation, possibly by mistake - posted a question on it:

Adam great job. I was pretty happy to get to talk to you personally and look forward to future google meet ups. We came from NH and felt it was well worth the trip. Please please have another soon.

It was fun meeting so many like minded people last night. It was worth the drive from Portland, Maine. I wish I could have stayed longer. The format was perfect. Thanks for a great evening Google. - @kristianjones

Had a great time meeting some new people. Wish I could have spent more time talking with the Google peeps themselves, but it was nice catching up with other Boston techies. Really appreciated the Q&A; wish we could have spent more time getting into specifics but it might not have been the best place for that. Perhaps another location with the opportunity for a "break-out" group to go and talk further. All in all, a great event. Tell me where the next one is and I'll be there!

really enjoyed meeting all the google users and webmasters who attended. a wonderful time.

It was unbelievable - I can't believe it happened and I only hope that Google can keep these so informal and accessible and _real_ Mega-kudos for doing this, it was such a great opportunity and so unique and improbable in today's overprotective, suspicious, and navel-gazing corporate culture.
  • Jennifer C
It was a great meet up last night, I hope to see a lot more of them in the near future!
  • Adam Pieniazek
Greet meetup. Lots of cool and interesting people from Google and non-Google.
  • Dan K.
It was just what I thought it would be - face time with Googlers, answers to questions, and free drinks!
  • Andrew Mazzarella
    Fantastic. When's the next one?
  • Jim Spencer
Great idea to have Q&A available from the web. It provided some focus and content that most wanted to hear. Appreciate opportunity to meet a few Googlers and ask questions directly. Also, great to meet new folks and other folks for the first time in real life. More useful SEO content would be welcome, but this was a meetup and not a presentation. The room was busy, but not too small. Interesting to see the trivia method of giving away the swag. Still looking for the ideal venue, one where you don't have to yell all night.

I had a lot of fun! I learned a lot and it was great for networking. I can't wait for the next one. Job well done.
  • Stu Morris
Adam did a great job answering questions and spending time talking to everyone personally after. I hope Google steps up the game and has more. We were from NH and the drive to Boston was good. Please have more, I think it is great for the company and those who support Google, thanks Adam.

Loved hearing all about Google! I'd just change the location to somewhere that has better light and acoustics so you can hear and see everyone you're talking with. Enormous room aside, great content and people!
  • Jenny Mackintosh
Had a fun time meeting some new Boston techies and catching up with old acquaintances. I agree with the other attendees; Google should schedule these more often! And we won't mind having to pay for our own drinks either =)
  • Laura Little
The venue was small, dark, and difficult to meet people because of the bottlenecks and difficulty getting around low tables/people. Other than that, a great and interesting group of people. Definitely made some good contacts.
  • Kristian Jones
It was an excellent experience. I hope they do it again.
  • Jason Gerdom
Everyone from Google was great. For not being sure of the best format, the Q&A seemed to work quite well. I'm not in the tech industry, so some of the content was unfamiliar to me. However, I'm sure it was applicable to most of the folks in attendance. Overall, I thought the 30 minutes questions was about right, as some folks were starting to shift their attention away from the speakers.

anytime someone is willing to buy me a beer, I'm good to go BostonMediaDomain.com :-) Liked when you had the Catherine Wheel by David Byrne playing, I could at least rate with my age group
