What we’re about
We provide Hindi-Urdu speakers and learners a chance to use and study Hindi-Urdu in varied settings. Native and non-native speakers and learners are welcome.
Most of our events are designed for intermediate to advanced level and for people with a serious interest in learning and using Urdu-Hindi. We avoid the use of English during our events whenever possible.
While many of our members have made new friends and some have even married via our group (!), this is not a dating group, and if your primary aim is meeting people, our group will not be the best fit for you.
Upcoming events (1)
See all- "Delhi by Heart" Book Discussion, and Brunch at Masala BuffetMasala, Somerville, MA
Please join us to discuss the book, "Delhi By Heart: Impressions of a Pakistani Traveller," by Raza Rumi, and for brunch at Masala Buffet, Teele Square (1127 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02144. Note that there are other local restaurants called Masala, so be sure you come to the right one ). 🥗
Note: We currently have a waiting list for this event. So if you haven't read the book or don't plan to, please allow someone who has read the book a chance to attend. If you've RSVP'd but no longer plan to attend, please change your RSVP to "no" so that someone from the waitlist can get in. We will be having more Meetups this summer, so you'll have more chances to chat in Urdu-Hindi (and eat) with us, but we'd appreciate keeping this meeting focussed on the book.
This meetup will be conducted in Urdu-Hindi, Hinglish, and Urdish, as necessary, so feel free to join us if you speak any of those. You're also welcome to attend if you haven't yet finished "Delhi by Heart," but be aware that spoilers may occur, and that we'll mostly be discussing the book.
Please keep your RSVP updated as seating is limited at Masala Buffet, and we need to grab the correct number of seats when we arrive.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this book and about travel in Delhi!
