The Gatekeepers

Charged with overseeing Israel's war on terror—both Palestinian and Jewish—the head of the Shin Bet, Israel's secret service, is present at the crossroad of every decision made. For the first time ever, six former heads of the agency agree to share their insights and reflect publicly on their actions and decisions. Directed by Dror Moreh (Sharon), the documentary The Gatekeepers offers an exclusive account of the sum of their successes and failures. It validates the reasons that each man individually and the six as a group came to reconsider their hard-line positions and advocate a conciliatory approach toward their enemies based on a two-state solution. Official Web Site.  Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature.   100% Rotten Tomatoes (top critics).

There is a really fascinating interview with Gatekeepers director, Dror Moreh, that was on NPR. It provides valuable perspective on the movie, new insights and is most thought-provoking. Here is the podcast link:

This was a great choice, as the film is chillingly relevant today. Caroline led a fascinating discussion which continued for awhile after the bill was paid, as Gerry says, "provoking thoughts" about global issues going forward.

I agree - it was a great choice, and one that I might not have chosen to see on my own. A lot to think about! Thanks for organizing, Caroline, and thanks to everyone for a good discussion!

It's difficult to make a fiction movie as tense and thought provoking as this one. Good choice, Caroline. And it was great to have ALL the atendees @ the post-film dinner and discussion.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
