“A wistful, elegant love story played out across the streets of Mumbai, The Lunchbox is an unexpectedly aromatic charmer from first-time film-maker Ritesh Batra.”—ScreenDaily

Winner of the critic’s week viewer’s choice award at Cannes. A mistaken delivery in Mumbai’s famously efficient lunchbox delivery system connects a lonely young housewife (Nimrat Kaur) to a nearly retired number cruncher (Irrfan Khan – Slumdog Millionaire), as they build a fantasy world together through notes in the lunchbox. The story of the life we dream of versus the life in which we live, and of the courage it takes to turn fantasies into reality, in this elegant Chekhovian comedy-drama.

I'm planning to go to the 11:00 and 2:00 films on Saturday. Does anyone who's been before have any recommendations about parking?

    September 17, 2013

    • John

There is a parking deck on the road parallel to Congress Street where you can leave your car all day for under $10

I will try to make the 11 am but will definitely meet everyone afterward if not. Staying through the first evening film.

Can't make it after all-- unexpected guests.

The Saturday, 11 am, film is usually half-empty, so there should not be a problem getting a ticket. You can pick up your other tickets when you get your Safety Last ticket. We'll meet in front of the Friendly Toast after both Safety Last and The Lunchbox so that we can enjoy lunch/dinner/discussion.

If you are new to the group, or unsure about how to Meetup, send me an email and I'll give you my cell number so that we make sure you have a great experience. Really looking forward to sharing this awesome annual event with members old and new!

Just looked at the site...doesn't appear you can get advance tickets to Safely Last (?). But I will buy advance tickets to the 2pm and 6:15 PM films om Sat. Any idea if I show up to Safety Last if I can get a ticket? It would be great to know how to find you guys for lunch before the 2 PM film just in case I don't get in to Safety Last. (Ironically I recently saw S.L. At the Brattle!)

We can keep in touch regarding meeting up as different members may have different plans. While I intend to see the 11 am and 2 pm films, others might rather do the 2 and 6:15, with dinner in-between. Depending on the weather, I may stay for the 3rd film, as well.

We can meetup outside of The Friendly Toast, on Congress Street directly across from the theater before Safety Last. The morning film is never sold-out. We can meetup after Safety Last to go for lunch before getting in line for The Lunchbox. I've posted a link for advanced tickets for The Lunchbox. Always better safe than sorry....

The 6:15 film is The Invisible Woman, starring and directed by Ralph Fiennes. The late film, 12 Years a Slave, looks to be fantastic as well.

I've never been to this festival. Is it necessary/recommended to buy tickets in advance? I'd like to go on Saturday, and I'd be glad to share a ride.

Is there a plan to "meet up"?

Is there a reason for 12:30 Saturday? The more interesting films are likely to be Saturday afternoon and evening? Or is this just a meet at a restaurant and talk time?

    August 26, 2013

  • Laura

I am thinking about getting a room and staying for the weekend

    August 25, 2013
