I like contrasts: outdoors vs. indoors, natural vs. man-made, physical vs. cerebral.  This group will attempt to celebrate these contrasts through monthly activities that will usually combine a moderate walk or hike combined with a museum visit, or something similar in the realm of the visual arts.

These events will start 10-11 AM on Sunday, and last 4-6 hours.  You should be able to comfortably walk at least 5 miles within two hours.  This will mostly be level walking on pavement or dirt paths, and will be listed as hiking if the surface or elevation changes are more challenging.  Sneakers or similar shoes are fine for the walks, while boots are recommended for any hikes due to their superior ankle support - but this is your choice.  Participants should always bring at least one (full) water bottle, and snacks if you think you may need them.

Most destinations will be within I-495, but we may go farther afield on some occasions.  There is no fee for participating in these events; I will try to find free museums for us to visit, but there are only so many available and some events will involve admission fees.  As this group is intended for seniors, all participants should be at least 55 years old.  While the main focus is on the activities, social interaction is encouraged so long as it doesn’t overly impact the walking pace.

Please note that the following actions will get you removed (but not banned) from the group:

- two no-shows (RSVP yes, but not coming)

- not visiting the group “site” for two months

- not going on a group trip in over six months

I am looking for active members, and not sideline lurkers.  You should be specifically interested in both outdoor walking and visual art, and not simply "meeting new people" - there are hundreds of other groups if that is your primary goal.
