Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival!

In its 39th year, the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival is a 10-day festival of full-length and short films at the Somerville Theater. With so many to choose from I'm betting that there is something that will interest any sci-fi fan. The schedule of the films is here: http://www.bostonsci-fi.com/node/557

I was thinking it would be great to coordinate members if there are films that people would be interested in seeing. If there’s a film you find interesting, post in the comments and we’ll go from there. If multiple people are interested in watching the same film, and you would be able to be the point of contact for our group, please email me at [masked] and I can make you an event host – that way you can message members to coordinate.

Are you coming to the big finale, the 24 hour movie marathon tomorrow? Check this out for some hints from veterans of the event on how best to prepare

I kinda want to see Armistice but I don't want to see it alone, anybody going to that one?

I might go to that one depending on the horror factor. I need to investigate the movie before I make a final decision.

Buy tickets ahead of time and disregard previous comment; several sellouts thus far

I have a black trenchcoat and am wearing a blue & white TARDIS scarf; if you're around any of the showings this weekend or going forward, please say hi. weekdays, I will be getting there around 10 minutes before the 5'o'clock showings

Just to be clear, this is starting today, but it would disappear off the page tomorrow so I moved the date up. Trying to be helpful , hope that wasn't confusing

I just wrote something for another meetup about the festival and marathon and sorry this is a bit long but I thought I'd post it here to provide some more detail : Most of what's playing the festival are feature films (or shorts) that either haven't been released yet, or have very limited release. There currently are, or will be, links to buy tickets for most of the showings. The showings listed so far are $11 or $12 each from what I can tell. When I've gone the house has seldom been totally full and you should be able to get in on the day of the show if you'd rather wait.

If you plan to go to a lot of the festival, you may want to consider getting festival ticket - it's $90, and also gets you into the Marathon at the end of the week.

You can buy a ticket for just the marathon, for less money ($50)but (and I wish they'd change this) you can't do the reverse and just buy a ticket for all the festival showings.

The link Ken posted below is a separate thing - a 24 hour block of movies at the end of the festival, called the marathon. Those -aren't- individual showings, the marathon is one big event.

I'd like to see Westworld but don't see a date/time for it posted yet: http://www.bostonsci-fi.com/node/556

So you're saying I can't see just one film?

      February 4, 2014

    • Drew G.

Right. The films in the festival are individual showings, that's the link in the description at the top of the page

Sorry to promote my own film but please consider seeing SENN on Valentines Day at 9pm. It's in the "love themed sci-fi" part of the festival! Ticket link: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/senn-premiere-tickets-10419869109

Hi, thanks for organizing this. I go to the Marathon at the end of the festival (sun-mon noon to noon, 24 hours of film) every year and this year I've got the 'fest ticket, and will be at many of them. . Still figuring it out, but almost certainly going to most of that first weekend (2/7 - 2/9)
