Folks in Massachusetts see Republicans as fiscally and intellectually limited, which is erroneous. That is an image that needs to be shaken off. If people would only attend the Tea Parties or other Republican gatherings, they would encounter down-to-earth men and women of supreme intelligence, faith and personal responsibility, folks who possess, at best, centrist or traditional viewpoints on a vast array of issues. There is a respectful open-mindedness and civility at these meet-ups. There is no smugness or intellectual condescension that I've heard or encountered, just decent people who want to be listened to and also left alone. ”
