Floral Fictions Wine Reception: Society of Arts & Crafts (free)

SAC’s exhibit gallery will be open to one and all for a special reception featuring the work of Jessica Calderwood: Floral Fictions. Meet inside, near the gallery entrance at 6pm, enjoy the art and wine reception. If you're late, look for your host, Suzanne, wearing something red.

The artist is usually present at these receptions.

Recent Work by Jessica Calderwood is one of four exhibitions held annually promoting work of established and emerging artists dedicated to interesting and fine craftsmanship. Located at 175 Newbury St. the Society of Arts and Crafts is nestled in the gallery district of Boston’s historic Back Bay.

For the past decade Calderwood has developed a unique body of work largely through enameling, an ancient process of fusing glass to metal. Floral Fictions, presents recent sculpture and jewelry that combine flower and botanical forms with fragments of the human body to address the narrative of human life cycles: change, growth, aging, and death. Her beautiful and exquisitely crafted objects offer humorous and sometimes ironic insights into what it means to be alive. The exhibition will also include sketches and collages that provide a glimpse into the artist’s working process.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
