Howdy! Yes, it's been awhile. You could say I've been more of a dis-organizer of late. Anyway, Massasoit State Park is a favorite walk of mine. It is located in the southeast and is part of the DCR: http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/southeast/mass.htm
For you map freaks, we'll start on the left side of the trail system, hike to the bottom (Fisherman's Landing) cross the street and return up the other side. Plan on roughly 2 - 2.5 hours at a moderate pace (not too slow, and not trail running). The trails are woodsy, rooty (yeah, I just made that word up) and rocky. Sturdy footwear is required. I also recommend water, snacks, and dress that is appropriate for the temperature (which so far lists in the low-mid 40s).
The trails are not mountainous, but they are not quite flat either. There will be some ups and downs. We'll also pass some beautiful lakes and maybe even see a horse or two on the trail.
Rain will cancel.
FYI: THERE ARE NO PUBLIC (outside of the private woods) RESTROOMS.
