As your IaaS / PaaS / XaaS assets multiply, so do services for monitoring and controlling them. Which ones are right for your environment? What is their common core? What are their special features? What's the holy grail?
We'll have three speakers focusing on three aspects of the cloud.
Speaking on Infrastructure Monitoring Built for the Cloud, Brian Corwin, Senior Platform Engineer at Stackdriver, will describe the capabilities of Stackdriver, a SaaS based infrastructure monitoring platform. Stackdriver was built from the ground up for the public cloud to provide useful cloud specific features, such as AWS Region-based endpoint monitoring and analytics like CPU steal. He'll also discuss the platform's group based capabilities, designed for modern horizontally scalable architectures. The presentation will cover how Stackdriver is used to monitor itself and how the lessons learned have driven its evolution. Brian has been a software engineer in the Boston area for almost ten years. Most of that time was spent at MIT Lincoln Laboratory working on cloud, as well as embedded, systems for applications such as radar signal processing and text analytics. Brian's work at StackDriver is focused on the alerting system, data pipeline, and analytics services.
Speaking on How Backupify Monitors AWS with Stackdriver, Eugene Gorelik, Director of DevOps at Backupify, will discuss how he and his team at Backupify use Stackdriver to monitor the performance and availability of their cloud environments on AWS. Eugene is a Director of DevOps at Backupify. He has over 10 years of experience in devops, development and systems administration. He is passionate about technology and tools which help to improve development productivity.
