Sunday Morning Arabic Study Meetup

  • July 14, 2013 · 10:30 AM
  • MFA

SPECIAL: This week meets at the MFA!!!

We meet at the Huntington Ave main entrance. Message me if you want my phone#.

Our 7/14 meeting will be at the MFA since the Qur'an exhibit is opening that weekend and on Sunday from 12-1pm there is also a calligraphy exhibit.  If we meet there at 10:30, we could have our meetup in the courtyard cafe, then go check out the exhibit.

We also have a number of museum passes available (though you may need to pay admission if there are not enough or if you come late).

This week we will be reading "Mai Ziyada" (pg 88-91) from Easy Arabic Reader.

The last 20 minutes of the meetup will be dedicated to conversation practice.

Audio for Easy Arabic Reader is available free here:

    Jeremie, Michael,
I may be late by a few minutes, so I'll need your cell numbers in case I'm not able to find you at the venue.
I've sent an email to both of you (the emails that we exchanged at the last meetup), hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks - Atif

Hey there, I'll be out of town this weekend, so I can't make it, but I noticed you were going to read about Mai Ziade. I just did a blog post about her and thought I would share it. It has two texts (one short and one longer) about her. The words in blue give you a translation if you hover your mouse over it. The purple text denotes proper nouns. There's some verb info as well as a few practice exercises after the shorter text. Sorry if there are any mistakes or bugs... Its a brand new blog and I'm still figuring things out! http://yourarabicclassmate.blogspot.com/2013/07/may-ziade.html

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
