A Caveat - As I mentioned before, Mt. Auburn Cemetery does have guidelines about photo images of its grounds:

    http://mountauburn.org/2012/film-and-photography-guidelines-at-mount-auburn-cemetery/#jump2

With regard to commercial distribution of MAC-themed photos, there are online permission-request forms that can be filled out and submitted.

    These guidelines also say:

"We do not allow publication of any images of Mount Auburn - personal or private – without written consent. If you are interested in publishing your images, you must contact the Friends of Mount Auburn with the intended outlet for publication or the intended use."

Whether posting here can be considered "publication" or not, the
courts are deliberately vague as to whether posting photos on the web is considered "publication."

Sorry I didn't get to meet up with everyone, even though I was there and wondering around the cemetery. Hope you all had a good time.

It was a beautiful day for some photography. I met some very nice people and had a good time.

    Where are we meeting?

    October 26, 2013

    • Frank K.

Good question. I got here a bit late, so I don't know.

I won't be able to make it today but I'll be waiting for the next meeting to attend, I can't wait!

Running a few minutes late, I forgot to put gas in the car. Sigh.

All - as it turns out I will not be able to make it today. Have fun and I look forward to joining you another time.

I am sorry but I am not going to be able to attend because I have to work.

As Frank C1 has pointed out, there are other dining options to Harvard Square in Watertown/Belmont. Stellina's (Italian) at 47 Main St., Watertown gets decent reviews, as does Not Your Average Joe's, 55 Main St. in Watertown. Both are close to Watertown Square MBTA bus stops for buses going to and from Harvard Square. And they're rated Good for Groups in Yelp on the web.

Having been to both, I would recommend Not Your Average Joe's over Stellina's. The parking is the same for both and plentiful. Not Your Average Joe's has good, fast service, the prices are reasonable, and can accommodate large parties a bit easier.

Have not been here for some time. Looking forward to going again.
How will we know what requires permission?

    October 24, 2013

    • Greg

Check the MAC link that I posted. That explains it.

Mount Auburn Cemetery does have certain guidelines for photographers:

Apologies for not posting this earlier. Some categories do require
    written permission, it seems.

There are several places to eat with lot and street parking 5 minutes up Mt. Auburn St. in Belmont/Watertown.

Folks, a slight time change...Cemetery officials have asked if we can move our Meetup start time to 3:30 pm on Saturday, instead of 3 pm, so as not to conflict with other events happening there.

    October 24, 2013

  • Greg changed the time from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM

I really don't go into the Square very much. Even for someone like myself with a Cambridge Parking sticker it's hard to find a place to park. I like Grafton Street, I have never been to Charlie's Kitchen but that could be fun (kind of a "dive bar") and probably wouldn't be as pricey as other spots. There's a place called Daedalus on Mt. Auburn St. Yelp says Whitney's on JFK street is another "dive bar" with students and locals. Christopher's in Porter Sq. is a good spot which I frequent. Hope that helps - I'm out of ideas...

Charlie's Kitchen is a good choice - Thanks, Babette.

Folks, be advised that the Longfellow Bridge will be closed to all private wheeled traffic in both directions, and MBTA bus shuttles will replace the Red Line between Kendall and Park Street this weekend. You might want to factor that into your travel plans for Saturday's Meetup.

    October 24, 2013

  • Greg

If folks want to gather for a drink afterwards, do you have any Harvard Square (I assume!) preferences?

    October 23, 2013

  • Babette

Where are we going to meet?

    October 22, 2013

    • Greg

We should rendezvous next to the Visitor Center, just inside the main entrance on Mount Auburn Street. Dress warmly, as they forecast Sat. to be in the fifties.

      October 22, 2013

  • Sandy

    Parking spots nearby?

    October 21, 2013

    • Greg

According to one Yelp poster, "Parking is easy because you can do so on the roadways throughout the grounds as long as there isn't a blue line." And you can take either the #71 T Bus (Watertown Sq.) or the #73 T Bus (Waverly) from Harvard Square past the Cemetery via Mt. Auburn St.

I just published this. I'll be able to show up and say hello, but after that, perhaps Greg can lead the group around as I have conflicting plans and can only stick around for an hour or so.

    October 20, 2013

    • Greg

Daniel, can do. I'm pretty familiar with MAC.

      October 20, 2013

Is this definitely on? It doesn't show up in my "I'm attending" list.

    October 19, 2013

    • Greg

Still on...you do show up in the Attending, from here...puzzling!

Will be in New York on another photowalk! Enjoy! It is a gorgeous place!
