David Barnes is a professional portrait and wedding photographer with studio in Davis Square. He is also a prolific music composer and art photographer. Attended Newton North high school, graduated from Swarthmore College with BA in music and psych.

Please tell us all about your wonderful self. Like what you do for work and fun?

I spend a lot of time working on my music compositions/recordings as well as my art photography. Also an avid hiker (founder of the "Hike the Medford Fells" meetup group). Participate in many meetups hosted by Social Fun and the C&C gaming group.

What types of Art are you into? ...painting, sculpture, music, photography and other visual media.

There are works of art that I find enticing in most art forms. I am drawn to originality, and to work that really tries to reach out and connect with its audience. In the visual arts, I tend to be drawn to abstract works. My own art photography leans in that direction. Music is a huge part of my life.

Are you and Artist or Art Collector If so tell what kind of Art are you into?

I am an art photographer, doing in-camera double-exposures, where the two exposures are overlapping silhouettes of the human form. My music compositions fall somewhere between ambient and experimental, with many layers of stringed instruments, percussion and keyboards.

What inspired you to join this group?

Hi everyone! Love the idea of hiking the Fells - I just moved to Malden, so this is my territory now - but weekdays are a no-go for me. I'll keep an eye out for a weekend meetup.

Hi David, it was really nice meeting you tonight. If you are interested, you can check out my photography and you'll see why I was having difficulty answering your "so what do you like to shoot?" question...I'm pretty much all over the place. If you have a link to your photography, I would love to check out your work :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/somewhat...
