Charles River Meet-n-Greet Ride ** This Sunday 4/29/12

What a great and unforgivable way to celebrate our very first ride !!

Let's Ride on Sunday, April,[masked]

The Charles River Meet-n-Greet Ride has for goals to Start Small and Simple.

This location is very convenient to many people and is accessible by car or public transportation

This is an easy to moderate pace ride of approximately 15 miles. The intention is to ride and have fun. Beginners or riders of all abilities are welcome. As with all the rides listed on this page, helmets are required.

A bottle or two of water in the heat is also a good idea!

Since we'll follow Paul Dudley Bike Path along the Charles River, we won't have to worry about traffic and It's a good way for us to test the group's riding chemistry while enjoying the beautiful scenic views along the Charles River.

Awesome ride, yall. I met two people who were very nice. Shared some stories. It would be great to stake our more time for meeting each other. Possibly we could all bring lunches next time?

Hi all - I'm looking forward to this ride, but I'm a bit concerned about the size of it. I'll post a message in the messageboard about that, and something for riders who are interested in longer/faster distances.

Hi All! I just found this group and am curious as to whether any of you have access to a tandem bike or would be interested in possibly renting one at some point. I'd love to join a cycling group such as this one, and since I am visually impaired it would be great to connect with other cyclists in the Boston area who would be interested in going on a tandem ride. Also, I am certainly open to going on more challenging, fast-paced rides in the future! Thanks in advance for any responses. :)

If it doesn't rain, I plan to!

    April 22, 2012

  • Rob

Email says it's officially postponed until next Sunday.. anyone want to still meet if it's NOT raining?

    April 22, 2012

  • Pam T.

If it rains, I probably won't go. Otherwise, I am looking forward to meeting some new cycling friends to ride with :) My bike just came out of garage, tires pumped, and ready to go!

There will be more advanced rides in the future at different locations where we?ll practice riding in a paceline...
This is an easy pace ride of approximately 15 miles. The intention is to ride and have fun. Beginners or riders of all abilities are welcome. As with all the rides listed on this page, helmets are required and we recommend bringing bottles of water.

Due to earth day activities and the nature of this bike path, we?ll split up into small groups of 4 with a group of leaders in the front, in the middle and also in the back of the group.

    April 9, 2012

  • Mike S. D.

The main objective of this ride is not so much the ride itself but to gather all cycling enthusiasts together in order to meet new people and enjoy Earth day at an easy pace. We?ll meet as a whole at the beginning; perform an equipment check and go over some safety Instructions. We?ll also take the opportunity to find out who would like to become "Boston Cycling Ride Leaders" for other rides during the year or contribute in any other ways to the group.

I've found the same problem Gary. Sometimes on Sundays I'll ride Memorial Drive; it is closed to cars from around River Street to Mt Auburn Hospital on Sunday mornings during the summer.

    April 9, 2012

  • Gary

I tried riding along the charles river on the boston side once and it is just not possible during spring / summer. Just too many people walking on the paths. May work if we went on the Cambridge side.

A ride on the south shore would be great. A lot of these groups are West or North of Boston. Somewhere in the Hingham/Scituate area would be nice!

Second on natick / dover, although it might be a stretch for me to get there after work.

    March 16, 2012

  • Beth N.

I would love a regular weekday ride. I live in Milton, but work in Newton so either area could work for me.

    March 16, 2012

There is some great rural riding in the Natick/dover/sherborn/wellesely area.

There is no reason why there can't be more then one weekly ride depending on where people live.

  • Cyndi

I would love to do a weekly ride here in the Seacoast for those living up this way.

I'd be up for a start in the Watertown area, maybe near the Arsenal Mall.

Great!. I hope I am close by to join in the evening weekday rides. I live in the Newton area close to Nahanton St where many cyclists meet up. The traffic can be tough around peak hours, though (5-7)

I'm in the E. Arlington/W. Medford area, so I figured somewhere along the minuteman bike path might be a good meeting point. I'm a road cyclist, so I'd be more interested in a suburban route (Belmont, Newton, concord, Lincoln, etc.), but definitely not opposed to city streets.
