Risk Management and Position Sizing by Patrick McMahon
Tonight's presentation will be on risk management and position sizing. One of the most important factors in obtaining longevity as a trader or investor is avoiding big losses. Professional traders use relatively equal amounts for each trade to reduce volatile swings in their accounts. Tonight we will cover this in more detail as well as complete an exercise in class.
Bio - Patrick McMahon is a swing trader and currency trader with Maverick Trading and Maverick FX respectively. In the equity markets, Patrick uses a top down approach to establish a market sentiment, identify out-performing and under-performing sectors, and select stocks that are leading or lagging their sector. He uses equity option spreads (verticals, diagonals, and ratio diagonals) for his directional trades. In the currency markets, Patrick uses relative strength to identify volatile currency pairs that are consolidating or retracing on a 15-min chart.
