Hey Eric,

Great presentation! Is there a layout that is good for both mobile and non-mobile email readers?

Hi Victor, and the rest of the group. I didn't know this question was up on the message board, so sorry for the delay in responding.

Most email tools (like EmberMail.com) provide the option of creating a text version of your email for recipients that chose not to receive HTML emails, which can help with deliverability to mobile devices. This is an important step in preparing your email message before it gets sent. I like to use a row of symbols like "*****" or "=======" above and below each section header (sometimes typed in caps) inside the email to help people on mobile devices or those receiving only text emails navigate through the content. Here's a brief example of what I mean:

Another alternative for helping to display email content on mobile devices is to use very simple HTML code and/or create a simple HTML page that you or the email service provider hosts that the mobile device can navigate to. Since many devices have a browser, you can put a link to your mobile version of your email at the top of the message. I would recommend a left-justified plain-text HTML page that uses h1, h2, h3, paragraph, font-weight (bold, etc), and color tags to design the email so that it is easy for any device to render the code. This should be relatively easy for you or your email service provider to create and either host it for you or provide the HTML page for you to post to your own website. Red Ember would have no problem providing that type of service for a client, and already offers automatic online version hosting. (each time an email is sent, an online version is automatically created that browsers can point to)

I invite anyone that want to discuss email for mobile devices further to post another question or comment here. I now have the tracking turned on.
