Why did you join this group?

New in town and looking to do things I enjoy with fun people

What is your favorite Anime, Japanese Film, or Manga? Why?

Wow, this is hard. Cause, see, its okay to miss out on Kurosawa if you watched the original Star Wars. And, no one should have to know Anime (though its a crime not to) But, if you watch Anime and havent seen saaaay Cowboy Beebop or a Studio Ghibli movie... that's just wrong. And, of course, I want everyone out there (with good taste) to see and appreciate Code Geass. But, that might just be a me thing. In general I think a lot of things are foundational. As in, all of these mentioned could add a depth of appreciation to things like Firefly or WTH Quentin Tarantino is even up to. Still, assuming we could arrest people for having missed out on (presumably) foundational material - the punishment seems easy to me: An Implemented Home Study Course lasting about a month. It should be online and interactive (ie: watching the films with other offenders and social discussion of the film/subject afterwards) and have homework that focused on providing insights into the piece and culture!

What would you like to see or do with this meetup group? What would you watch? Where would you go? Etc.

"Perfect" is rough. I'd be happy watching some shows (or perhaps even a series. Say 3-5 episodes of a particular show per session - towards watching an entire season) in the company of fun interested people with snacks handy. I might mention that I'm feeling a little lazy in my leisure atm, as I'm quite busy with everything else. Otherwise, I'm sure "Perfect" would be more active and involved.

How often do you watch/read Anime, Japanese films, and/or Manga?

Hmm, I enjoy watching "films" from a variety of countries. I'm currently big into Kdrama, so I could talk more about that than anything. However, once upon a time I was actually hired by an anime magazine to write reviews. As for anime, I don't know that I feel all that picky atm. However, story, characters and content matter to me most. (as opposed to say a genre, like mechs. infact, mechs come in last. Even though I love Code Geass, which has mech fighting, but an amazing story.) As for cred, I spend waaay to much time online digesting "best of" shows in a hunt for something new and exciting to watch.

Tell us a random fact about you or a comical story.

I once dated a semi-famous Chinese singer and while attending an awards ceremony with her was introduced to Grace Park. At the time I loved Grace Park (which is why my awesome GF made sure the intro occurred), but after meeting her I couldnt stop thinking about how skinny she was. Tooooooo skinny
