Watertown, MA – Joining forces to present a fun night of roots music, bands The Pioneer Valley Pioneers and Honky Tonk Masquerade, along with DJ Easy Ed spinning platters to start the night, and during the breaks between bands. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Canadian-American Club, 202 Arlington Street, Watertown, MA. Doors 8:00 pm and ending at midnight. Admission is $12 at the door.
The PIONEER VALLEY PIONEERS is a high-energy trio that plays traditional country from the 1950’s and ‘60s with a big emphasis on country duets. The band also dabbles in rockabilly and songs from WWII, and has some great originals as well. The members include, Lynnette Lenker on vocals and rhythm guitar, Chris DeBarge on vocals and rhythm/lead guitar and Phil Lenker on vocals and standup bass. Lynnette and Chris are both former members of The Stumbleweeds. HONKY TONK MASQUERADE presents a dance-inducing gumbo of classic country from the 50’s and 60’s, hot western swing and time-tested Honky Tonk favorites. Honky Tonk Masquerade features the powerful vocals of Susanne Salem-Schatz and Martin Grosswendt, adding their own twist to the tradition of the country duet. Supported by Martin’s telecaster, Art Schatz’s first-rate fiddling and a crack rhythm section of Kathy Burkly on drums and Michael K. Harrist on the doghouse bass, Honky Tonk Masquerade moves fans to their feet and the party to the dance floor.
DJ EASY ED is the man behind “Easy Ed’s Variety Hour” on WMFO in Medford, MA (airing alternate Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern—seewww.easy-ed.net for details), spinning rockabilly, hillbilly, and ‘50s and early ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll and R&B. He also hosts the Primitive Sounds DJ night at River Gods in Cambridge, MA; spins records live at other clubs; and promotes rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll events throughout the Boston area. He specializes in dance-friendly 45s for folks who love to move their feet.
