Boston Quantified Self Show&Tell #BQS13 (NERD)

Please come join us on July 23rd for another fun night of self-tracking presentations, sharing ideas, and showing tools. If you are self-tracking in any way -- health stats, biofeedback, life-logging, mood monitoring, biometrics, athletics, etc. -- come and share your methods, results and insights.

6:00 - 7:00 pm DEMO HOUR & SOCIAL TIME

Are you a toolmaker? Come demo your self-tracking gadget, app, project or idea that you're working on and share with others in our "science fair for adults." If you are making something useful for self-trackers – software, hardware, web services, or data standards – please demo it in this workshop portion of the Show&Tell. Please let us know you will be bringing something to the Show&Tell, so we can be prepared for you.

7:00 - 8:00 pm QS SHOW&TELL TALKS

If you'd like to talk about your personal self-tracking story, please let us know in your RSVP or email me (JoshuaKot at gmail dot com), so we can discuss your topic and how much time you'll need. In your talk, you should answer the three prime questions: What did you do? How did you do it? What did you learn?

If you've never been to a meetup before, you can get a sense of what the talks are like from watching videos of previous QS talks.

8:00 - 9:00 pm MORE SOCIAL TIME & NETWORKING

Talk to the speakers, chat with new and old friends, ask other people what they're tracking, and generally hang out and have a great time.

Many apologies for the multiple messages. I kept getting posting errors, but apparently they posted anyway

is it possible to start the talks earlier and save the social time for after? some of us have very long commutes and it sucks to have to leave 15 minutes into the talks.

I even recall the last time I attended I met some folks who were also disappointed with the late start time. They left to grab dinner and did not return.

We have found that a 7pm start time for the talks works the best for the majority of people. We would love it if we could have a start time that worked well for everyone, but this is not possible. We typically stay on schedule, but last night we decided to delay the start of talks due to the refreshments arriving late and wanting people to have time to eat and not be hungry during the talks. Thank you for the feedback :)

I really enjoyed my first QS meeting and wanted to share what I have been writing/thinking about with the group. I have been exploring self-quantification from the marketing perspective, and am really interested in what the proliferation of this kind of data means for analytics, and what cautions we need to take when it comes to user privacy. Feel free to take a read of the blog posts I have written on the topic to date. I would love thoughts and feedback! http://michele.webanalyticsdemy...

I missed most of the presentations but going to these meetup despite the hours it takes to be on the road, still worth it. This time I wrote a blog article about my experience, people in New Hampshire will probably find informative. http://leading4edge.blogspot.co...

Can I pay at the door? My Paypal account is having issues. Or is there another option?

    Hi All,

I'm working on developing a new QS product that quantifies light exposure to improve general health/attention/focus and to treat depression and ADHD.

I'm trying to put together a few small focus groups of QS'ers to learn what's most interesting and exciting about the product. In exchange for participating, we will give you a free product when it's ready.

Email me if interested: [masked]. Happy to tell you more about it at the Meetup.

    Thanks,
    Ed

I can't talk about what I did, because I'm not doing much. But I'm very happy to demo my continuous glucose monitor (blood glucose reading every 5 minutes) and my insulin pump. I can also talk about the lack of a unified diabetes dashboard -- a challenge for the group.

I look forward to meeting fellow Healthcare Entrepreneurs. I work on market development and investor relations, but I also work on finding ways to make health data easier to read.
