Announcing a new Meetup for The Boston Quantified Self Meetup Group!

What: Boston QS #4 :: and keeping commitments

When: Tuesday, December 7,[masked]:00 PM

Where: MeYou Health
1 Appleton St., 4th Floor
Boston, MA 02116

Hello everyone,

After something of a hiatus, we're back on track for another Quantified Self meetup. This meetup will be themed around making and keeping commitment, and features Ian Ayres of and Yale Law. He'll be doing a 40-45 min. talk on how to design better commitments, which will feature an overview of recent social science studies, and he'll then be doing Q&A. This is all in connection to his recent book release, _Carrot and Sticks_, where copies will be available for perusal and purchase at the meetup. This Meetup is being hosted by MeYouHealth in downtown Boston -- thanks!

To lead into this, I'd like to present an invitation: between now and the next meetup, pick a goal tracking tool and try it out. It could be stickk, anything from the recent roundup on the QS blog, or of course anything else. If you're up for giving a 5 minute talk based on your experience, let me know. I am excited to include participatory components in future meetups, and so this is an experiment for me. I expect first-hand experience of goal tracking will make the whole discussion at the meetup richer.

I'm also debating asking for a $5 or $10 donation as a fundraiser for sprout -- the non-profit under whose aegis I run the QS. I'd use some funds for a videographer, and the rest as a donation to sprout. I suspect that will help organizing the QS take a higher priority for me and they'd happen with more regularity, but I also don't want to dampen the tone of enthusiasm and excitement at the meetups. I'll start a meetup survey to get your opinion ... let me know!
