My sisters and I would like to host a meetup in Central Mass for those willing to travel. We have a small cabin on a tiny lake in East Templeton, with a beach, fire pit, and bbq grills. The parking will be at 185 Partridgeville Road and take a short walk around the lake from there.  There will be balloons to lead you to our place.

Please follow speed limit signs once you get on the lake property. Yes, they really mean 5mph. (watch out for kids and chickens!)

Things to bring:

- A chair

- Your uke!

- Food and drink

- songs to share

- towel and bathing suit if you'd like to swim

- Yo' self

SONG LIST is here: http://files.meetup.com/1634379/lakeside-uke-07202013.pdf

Here is a link to the walking directions from the parking area:

Thanks, Meagan, for letting us enjoy your beautiful location - and a dip in the lake! Great song list! Great food! I do wish we had started off with simpler songs, with the sheet music (e.g., Jambalaya followed by Blue Bayou). That would have allowed us to warm up before tackling songs that were harder to play and/or sing. Just a suggestion. It was a lot of fun!

Sorry not to have been able to get there; I played my ukes in the air conditioned bedroom for a good portion of the afternoon...

Great Merton, great seeing everyone again

    • danno

"Great Merton"? Is that slang? Or auto-correct?

      1 · July 22, 2013

    • Rich

Great Merton, Batman! We're in a real jam!

      1 · July 22, 2013

  • Del

Wish I could blame it on autocorrect but I fat fingered that one, wonder why my F-chords sound like Dm. Ok, here goes try #2, strumming fun with a great bunch of people...

Thanks Meagan for a wonderful time. So much fun. Lovely camp, cool weather, good food. Your song selection was great.

Thanks to all that came. The rain stayed away the entire day! As usual, thanks Danno for the great orchestration! :)

That was a treat! What a way to start a tradition...

Sadly, I will not be able to make it. (It's a good thing that everyone was too afraid to take me up on my carpool offer.) I probably won't see you guys until September... try not to be too broken up about it.

    July 19, 2013

    • Jeff B.

Broken up? Why we're cheering! Oops. Private voice, Jeff. Private voice. ;-)

      July 19, 2013

Touché, Wendy.... You have won this round... for now.

What does the schedule look like for this? Does it start right at 2? How long is it going to go for?

    July 20, 2013

  • Saundra A.

I will have a couple of lei's hanging by my driveway for parking.
Park on the left side of the driveway only on the grass.
I will have it fenced out. Going to be a great afternoon.

Regrettably, I am not able to come tomorrow. It is a very long ride with iffy weather. So disappointed, I was looking forward to swimming and music...

    July 19, 2013

  • Saundra A.

I have a big field for additional parking and just a short walk to the meetup. 185 partridgeville road just down the street.

    3 · July 14, 2013

    • Meagan

I spoke to Emma and she said it's a short walk if we take the path around the lake. We'll put up a path of balloons to our place. Thanks again!!

      July 16, 2013

    • Meagan

There is a path that runs around the lake. Your feet can go where cars cannot, so it'll be .2 of a mile walk.

Weather watch -- and again. According to present sources, there is a 40% chance of rain and thunder storms..we shall see; I'm an optimist so I printed out the music.

    1 · July 16, 2013

  • Meagan

So, I've never hosted a meetup before. Should I be planning the song list?

    July 12, 2013

    • Rich

Not being Danno is usually considered a good thing.

      July 12, 2013

    • danno

I AM Danno, and even I have trouble being myself. We can all pitch in on leading songs.

      July 16, 2013

  • Meagan

The song files have been posted: http://files.meetup.com/1634379/lakeside-uke-07202013.pdf I will bring a few copies, but please print a copy if you can.

Please feel free to add any that you need to play this weekend.

    Are pooches allowed?

    July 14, 2013

sorry, no pooches. We've had some issues with them not getting along.

      There go my dating prospects....

      1 · July 16, 2013

Sounds good. I'll put out a sign and where people should park. One side is very wet so that not a good spot to park.

    July 14, 2013

    • Meagan

I just looked, and your parking lot is on the other side of the lake, so not walkable. We can still shuttle people, but it could be more hectic.

      July 15, 2013

Would love to join in the fun but will be in Oak Hill, NY at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Thanks so much for hosting. Perhaps another time.

Rich: I'm not ridin' with you, Dude...We will be playing Schumann in my little ole red wagon.. iCar running well --no CHECK ENGINE light for a while. There is no heat but it IS summer...

I am coming from the South Shore, but I can swing through town to pick people up.

I can fit four others in my Mystery Machine... But be warned: I maintain complete control of the stereo, and the selection will be, shall we say, eclectic. If you aren't up for hearing Tito Puente and Kiss back to back, then it's going to be a long, strange trip (although, there will be no Grateful Dead... Gerry sucked. There, I said it.)

Oh, one more thing, nobody leaves the car without singin' the blues.

It's time to start to thinking about car pooling. I can take four from Arlington Heights; we are available by public transportation -- the #77 bus from Harvard Square: [masked]

I will bring some songs and could lead a couple; how many copies of each should I bring?

    July 13, 2013

      I would say around 20.

Laurie and I are coming from Salem, MA. I don't know if there's someone we can carpool with or not. Our normal routes would be getting to Route 2 W by coming down 128 or getting to 495 to Rte 2W.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
