Groove to the Desert Blues of Tinariwen

Tinariwen, a free-flowing band of nomadic Tuaregs, blends time-honored musical forms with a rebellious sensibility to create entrancing desert blues. A sensational live act, they electrify traditional Tuareg melodies with edgy blues, rock, pop, Berber, and Arabic influences to create a gritty, hypnotic sound. Their most recent recording, Tassili, won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.

Awesome show, I love how the percussion comes alive at the live show, in addition to the guitars, bass, and singing. Always love seeing the one guy dancing on stage as well!

This was truly a world-class, kick-ass musical experience. Tinariwen just keeps getting better and better.

I am sorry I missed them too. I had to be at the AIC it was my only chance to meet with the movie (Tinghir to Jerusalem) director before he lives Boston.
Jim thanks a million for stepping in! For the ones that made it I am glad that you enjoyed yourself and for the ones that did not I am sure that they will be back! :)

I will be there tonight; but, with all the dropouts, I don't believe I know any of the others who'll be attending. If anyone sees a tall (6'2") fellow with dark-rimmed glasses in the lounge area, chances are it will be me.

Thanks Jim, I should be there around 9:30pm so I will look for you and the group. They are very popular so it is likely to be a full house, it might be easier for the group to be situated near the back so others can find other group members. If others want to maneuver closer to the front (and can) that may work, after a "base" has been established

If it helps, I will be in a grey, vertically striped collared shirt. Perhaps with a heavy brownish coat over it (if I don't do coat check)

Hey Kenny, it looks like I can't make it either unfortunately.. some other things came up..
    Who wants to take charge?

I might not be able to host, as something has come up and it looks like I may not get there until after 9pm. Anyone else able to host? (just gathering people before the show in the cafe/lounge, and bringing everyone out to the main concert hall when the show starts)

Love this group - will be great to hear them live and see them! Have a friend arriving from Egypt that day, somy attendance may depend on her jet lag and other needs.

Fabulous band, from a troubled land...ironically they could probably not concertize in northern Mali at present...
