Mijo de La Palma Encore Performance in Cambridge, MA

From the Facebook event page (http://www.facebook.com/events/259661027493389/)

Puerto Rico’s Mijo de la Palma has extended their Northeast Tour and will present two encore performances in Cambridge, MA and Hartford, CT as well as presentations in New Jersey and Washington DC.

Friday, Dec. 28 • 8pm • $10 sliding scale • Democracy Center, Harvard Square

Far from being an ensemble, Mijo is more about a metamorphous crossing of people. Looking back at years of musical encounters with diverse people, Mijo resembles a Socratic circle that refuses a definition. Fusión Jíbara has been the tagline adopted by many but it seems to be more complex than that. Fusión Jíbara resembles one of the many aspects that has characterized Mijo, for their ability to merge creative energies as a whole. Not surprisingly, what seems to endure is the Jíbaro vibe. As Mijo embarks on their US tour, Canto E’ Jíbaro, they hope to find new ways to feed their soul as they try to bring the same to those who experience it.

“Mijo De La Palma did it with style tonight. How did they make that look so easy? …and to a packed house! ” – Mission Cultural Center for the Latino Arts

Show starts at 8pm, and if people are up to it, afterward we can go somewhere nearby in Harvard Sq. for food/drinks/extra conversation. I attended the last show in November, the music was great, and very passionate. Join us!

Exceptional music, I am glad so many enjoyed it! Next time I hope to have better organization for the post-meetup gathering, but I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the music as much as I did, pictures will be coming. Feel free to post pictures as well if you took some.

This is in response to Sherin for a clarification on the wine and cheese pre meet-up. We're hostin a BYOB communal open wine bar. Basically, We'll get some wine (4-6 bottles) and put it out for people to partake. Of course, once the 4-6 bottles are gone, it's over. So, while not a requirement (and this is at no extra charge) people are always encouraged to add to the spirit by bringing a bottle. In the spirit of Meet-up and giving people a space to actually meet-up, we're going to also provide some cheese, crackers and fruits for people to partake. Very light fare. We did this last time and it was a great way for people to chill and chat before the event started. Hope that helps amiga!

Kenny's right on. We'll open the doors at 7pm and the table will be set out. So, you can set your coat on a chair and hang out. The space is actually in an adjacent room we call the Rosa Parks Room.

Kenny, Thanks for putting this up. Would you like me to host a similar wine and cheese pre-hang out? If so, say the word.

Hello Andrew, we're still doing the wine and cheese beforehand. There's no extra charge for that (but we always encourage people to bring a bottle to add to the pot) No need to get tickets ahead of time. Once you come in, just put your coat on a chair to "claim" it and join us for some vittles :-) Looking forward to seeing y'all there.

Looks we have a good turnout so far! Also I think I'll have something to add to the pot :)
