Mobile Strategy and Getting Started with App Development #BNTmob

Free event! Come network with the Boston/Cambridge startup community and learn about mobile strategy and mobile app development!

First, Tushneem Dharmagadda of Mobinett Interactive will discuss mobile strategy and trends, designing native apps for the best user experience, getting started with native app development, using testing frameworks and more...He'll cover iOS and Android and a little bit of Windows Phone 8 and Blackberry.

Then, Biju Kalissery of Sprile will discuss how system integrators can deliver database-driven mobile and web applications blazingly fast using Sprile Platform, a service that helps users build and maintain back-end database tables, administrative user interfaces and multi-platform API's using browser-based drag and drop tools.

Lastly, David Asher of ViziApps will demonstrate how non-developers can use ViziApps, a do-it-yourself app builder, to quickly build full native iOS and Android apps without coding and publish them to the app stores. Attendees will be able to download and try the iOS/Android app being demonstrated.

Great event last night - thanks to the organizers and presenters! For those who left early, I made an announcement I'd like to repeat here. I'm the Director of Product Management at OpenMobile and we make software which enables any non-Android device to natively run any Android app without modification. We're hiring for many roles, including Developers (Java, C, C++, Android Apps, Android Internals, Linux Kernel, etc.), Architects, Project Managers, Product Managers, QA Engineers, Technical Sales Engineers (SEs), Marketing Managers, etc.

If you're interested in any of the above, please get in touch with me at hhecht at openmobileww dot com and I'd be more than happy to discuss. Bonus points for sending along a resume or link to your LinkedIn profile.

    Thanks!

Overall, a very good session. The presentations were product-focused, but the presenters generally did a good job tying software features to general development challenges and tasks. I do, however, believe the session's published title was different than the one posted at the sessions itself - the latter more clearly reflected the Meetup's product focus. I thought the "mix" of presenters was good, offering different approaches to different development situations. I look forward to more sessions in the future. Thanks to the organizers and presenters!

On the BYOD front, I will be speaking on this topic at tonight's (3/6/13) Boston Area Windows Server User Group meeting at Microsoft's offices in Cambridge. For more info and to register go to http://www.meetup.com/windowsBo...

    Open to everyone.

    Session description:
Let’s discuss how to tackle the challenges of BYOD. BAWSUG member David Yashar, Managing Consultant at Soft-Aid, will moderate a discussion on the range of solutions being used to manage mobile devices and how they align with each other. He gave a similar presentation to over 100 people at a recent IT
Asset Management conference. Topics that will be covered also include: What is the role of IT in these initiatives? How does one craft the right BYOD policies and what role do they play? What are first steps and best practices when evaluating and implementing a BYOD program? What are the native MDM capabilities in Microsoft ConfigMgr and Windows Intune and how does one leverage them?

Thanks for coming to the event last night. On second thoughts I should have stuck to trends and not delved into code. I had 4 emulators running and it slowed down my macbook. There wasn't enough time to cover both iOS and Android.

We are planning events on mobile commerce/ monetizing through mobile and BYOD (Bring your own device) in the enterprises. If you have other ideas and suggestions for topics/speakers you'd like please send them to me or Chris Requena.

If you have any questions on coding / dev or want to discuss mobile in general feel free to reach out to us. We can grab a beer or coffee and chat!!

Great concept for a meetup but I didn't get much from the last 2 presentations. There wasn't much applicability beyond adopting their own products.
