What we’re about

Welcome to Boston Wine Meetup Group!
This group is dedicated to all that is wine. Welcome. Whether you are just learning how to hold your glass, are a casual wine drinker, or a passionate expert, we are happy to have you on board.

Our events range from informal tastings at Boston-area restaurants and wine stores, to large formal events, movies, socials, food and wine pairings, dessert wines, reds, whites, rosés, Old World vs. New World wines, wine terroir vs. varietals, the language of the label, wine-related travel, lectures, history, cooking with wine...

BostonWine is a "big-tent" group, so we welcome anyone and everyone who enjoys the pleasures of table. Come and share a bottle with us.

BostonWine Group Policies and Disclaimer
You must agree to ALL of our policies to be a member of our group and attend our events.

LEGAL DRINKING AGE REQUIRED
You must be of legal drinking age to be a member of our group. By requesting and continuing membership, you swear and affirm that you are over the age of 21. Further, any guests you bring to our events must be 21+ as well. If you intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent your age, or the age of a guest in order to provide alcohol to a person under the age of 21, the organizers will ban you from the group and possibly notify the proper authorities. Please have a photo ID handy when you come to one of our events.

DRUNKENNESS NOT TOLERATED
Drinking alcohol is a normal activity of this group, but getting drunk is NOT! We expect our members and their guests to know their limits and be responsible wine drinkers. Those who over-indulge to the extent that it disrupts an event, raises safety concerns about the member or others at an event, or potentially presents a liability to the group, will be banned from the group.

By being a member of BostonWine, you agree that you and your guests will follow the guidance of the organizers if told to stop drinking, need to leave, take a cab or ride from a fellow member, etc. Further, at the discretion of the organizers, the proper venue or legal authorities may be notified in cases of extreme safety concerns.

AUTHORTY OF ORGANIZERS
The organizers of BostonWine work hard to create and run great events. In some cases the organizers enter into financial understandings with a venue, supplier, or other third party as part of an event. By requesting membership with BostonWine you acknowledge and accept that the organizers are the only persons with the authority to speak for the group, decide who may or may not be a member of our group, decide what events to plan and how to run them. In particular, you agree that the organizer of an event has final authority on how the event is to proceed, what adjustments might have to be made during the event to ensure it is a success, what constitutes proper behavior and generally how to maintain order.

PROPER BEHAVOR
BostonWine events generally are casual, educational and fun. We expect all members to behave as responsible adults and show respect for other members, their opinions, similarities as well as their differences. If an issue arises with another member, staff at a meetup venue, or on the group's web site, you agree to notify the organizers and let him/her handle the situation. Further, you agree under no circumstance to argue or otherwise get into a dispute with another person during an event.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages may impair one's judgments or actions to act responsibly. If a member participates in any action that the organizer deems is harmful or threatening to themselves, another person, animal or property, or whose behavior reflects poorly on BostonWine, that member will be banned from the group.

Our discussion boards, event comments, etc. are not forums for airing personal disputes, and doing will result in your removal from the group. Using our web site to distribute email virus or other malware is a crime and will be reported to proper legal authorities.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Members are responsible for paying their own way and settling their tab before leaving a meetup in a restaurant or other venue where a group tab was open.

GOVERNMENT WARNING ON HEALTH CONSEQUENCES of CONSUMING ALCOHOL
The organizers and our members believe that moderate consumption of wine with food is part of a healthly lifestyle. However, alcohol consumption is ill advised for certain people in certain circumstances. By joining BostonWine, you acknowledge that there is a government warning concerning the health effects of consuming alcoholic beverages: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. (2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.

MUST HAVE A PROFILE PHOTO
To join or remain in this group ALL Members are required to have a representative main profile photo at all times. A head shot is best, but not required. You will not be able to join without a photo and will be removed for lack thereof. We do this to ensure the safety of our members, but also to simplify the lives of the organizers.

PUBLIC IMAGES
From time to time, members take photographic, digital or video images of event participants and post these images to our web site. You hereby agree to allow the BostonWine group to display those images without expectation of privacy or remuneration. Members are free to request, however, that a particular image of themselves be removed by contacting one of the organizers; final determination of whether the image should be removed however is at the discretion of the organizer.

NO_SHOW POLICY
Most of our events have wait lists due to their popularity. Not showing up to an event that you have RSVP'd to is disrespectful to your fellow members, makes it difficult for the organizer to plan events and may incur financial penalties. As a result, after 3 "no-shows," the organizer may decide to remove you from the group.

DISCLAIMER
By being a member of the BostonWine group you hereby agree to assume all risks and liability related to or resulting from any and all group events, interactions with our meetup web site and other members. You agree that neither you nor any third party will hold any of the group's organizers, members, companies, officers, or representatives liable for any injury, loss, or damage to yourself, your guests or any members of your family, friends, acquaintances, children, pets, or property, arising directly or as a consequence from a group activity.

During all events, everyone is responsible for themselves. The organizers are not responsible for the safety of the participants. We will try our best to prevent accidents, but are not responsible or liable if something happens to you. Be aware of your limits and respect your fellow group members; DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

By joining the BostonWine meetup group and remaining a member, you acknowledge and accept these points.

Thanks,
the organizers
