Art and Wine: Wine tasting at Bravo | MFA

  • This location is shown only to members

What a great combination: Art and Wine. Let's get together for an informal wine tasting at Bravo, the restaurant at the Museum of Fine Arts, followed by member-guided mini tours of the museum!

The last Wednesday of every month is Winesdays at Bravo, the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the MFA. The space overlooks the museum's inner courtyard and is quite nice -- a perfect setting for a tasting.

The tasting starts early -- at 5:30 and finishes up at 7:30. The museum will be open until 9:45pm, so we have 2 hours to soak up the artwork.

To make it more interesting, I'd like to hear from the artists among you who are open to sharing their passion for a particular artist or work. Contact Jim via meetup. More details as this develops...

COST: $25 per person at the door

Admission price includes light hors d'oeuvres and tasting of featured wines. Sorry, there is NO discount for museum members.

This event is hosted by Bravo, not this meetup group. No reservations are necessary -- just pay at the door. RSVP here  so I can give Bravo a heads up about headcount.

Bravo, Museum of Fine Arts

465 Huntington Avenue
Boston, MA

Tel: (617)[masked]

Nearest T: Green line, E train to the MFA stop

Parking: available, but $$$

Directions

Admission to the museum is free Wednesdays after 5pm, although you still need to get a ticket. They may ask you for a donation, which you can opt out of. Tell them that you are going to the wine tasting at Bravo.

Bravo is inside the MFA on the 2nd floor in the Upper Level Galleria, Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art. Enter at Huntington Ave. at the main entrance. Take the central stairs up one flight.

No details about the wines unfortunately, but I'd expect every day wines in the $15-20 price range.

See you soon!

Janet / Donna (and anyone else): perhaps we should have our own wine tasting if you're downtown.........

    March 26, 2014

    • Janet

That might work at some point. But tonight is impossible :-(...

Janet - let me know when that "point" is. I finished up a big project (for the time being) and can celebrate.

Thank you for getting a good group together for the wine tasting. Good wines, conversation and a fun group. The Impressionists art is also a good show- recommend it!

What a charming event, although learning that 2 fire fighters died in the fire that shut down Storrow drive gives one pause. About 30 of us attended what several called the wine tasting bargain in Boston. What with the threat of snow, then the fire, then of course my threats of being shut out, it was good to see so many of you make it. I met lots of new members and signed up a few more! Venue was fantastic, finger food good and copious, wines interesting -- Slovenian white nice a crisp, Argentinian Pinot Noir tarte. Then the impressionists! wow! To be repeated bien sûr!

Taking Red Line to Green to get there by 5pm the latest. Taking T so I can enjoy the wine! Anyone heading there from Somerville that wants company ....
Same for heading home unless someone is driving back toward Red Line/Davis area

  • Seth

Could I get a ride from anyone driving to the Newton Corner / Oak Square area afterwards?

Due to the possibility that I may be late and not be able to join in anyway, it is more honorable for me to give my apologies now. So have a good time tonight. Now that I am back walking on 2 feet I will catch up with ya'll soon. Take good care. Meredith

Unfortunately, I won't get there in time. I hope you have this event again.

    March 25, 2014

  • Cindy C

Given the time arrival factor, I am not going to be able to make this event unfortunately. Will look forward to another fun event!

Update. Newcomers, good to have you. However, take note! first come, first served. All 90+ of those that RSVP'd here will not get into tasting. Plan to arrive early -- free admission to MFA (and Bravo) starts at 5pm, tasting starts at 5:30. RE: mini-tour. I will lead the tour of impressionists, which has moved to the 1st floor special exhibit area--we'll assemble at Bravo after tasting 7:30. Other friends will assist. Email me if you can lead a group.

    Modern!

    March 14, 2014

  • Jim F.

Right now, judging from your RSVPs, we have at least 3 art threads: impressionists (bien sur que oui!), Sargent (Boston School) and Modern. Guides, where are you?

    March 13, 2014

    • Steve S

What king of guides are you seeking?

      March 13, 2014

  • Amy

Bowing out, I wouldn't get there until 6:30-45pm the earliest, and I think it would be full by then. Looking forward to the next event!

    March 13, 2014

  • Jim F.

Talked to the manager at the MFA about this event. He will put on extra staff to accommodate us, but payment is at Bravo bar only and will be limited to the first 60 people TOTAL. -- not just our group. Take away: dont be late. :) Also, museum admission is free after 5pm.

    March 13, 2014

  • Steve S

    Looking forward to this.

Hey! Great to see so much interest in what I think is going to be a superb event. Thanks to those who have answered your RSVP question -- to the rest, I have my stern face on, so please do the same so I know how many member guides we need.

Potential guides, where are you? Contact me.
