We'll be starting where we left off and finishing the stand for our grow towers, test the aquarium's seal, and start running through the plumbing logistics.
The idea behind the group build is to give inexperienced builders the opportunity to get hands-on with building an small-scale aquaponics system and donating the system created to a local non-profit, an idea I borrowed from the Earthship Colorado gang. Aquaponics scales very easily, and starting small can help save you lots of time, money, and stress while still giving you the knowledge to sustain yourself and your family.
Parts have been gathered from various sources and will be used to create an aquaponics system for Solid State Depot, the Boulder Hackerspace, our base of operations. Hopefully we will have all the tools and supplies to at least start building a system in one afternoon. Should additional build session be needed, they will be added accordingly.
If you would like to participate by hosting your own group build, supplying materials, and having help from our group to assemble the system, please contact Joel.
