The Boulder Cello Project is proud to announce a workshop featuring one of our newest music sponsor, Dennis Neff!

Mr. Neff is a published arranger of string orchestra scores and specializes in folk, fiddle, gospel and bluegrass music. He plays several folk instruments, teaches privately, and devotes much of his retirement time to arranging string music. Mr. Neff has adapted his very successful Fiddle Harmonies Workshop to four-part Cello arrangements just for the Boulder Cello Project!

The workshop will be centered on folk music harmonies.  Music examples will illustrate various types of harmonies that are used in folk, fiddle and gospel music (i.e. high harmony, low harmony, obbligato, counter-point, arpeggio, etc.). We will play through several scores to illustrate the various harmony styles presented.

Songs are arranged for MIXED SKILL LEVEL so that everyone can participate in playing these beautiful waltzes, ballads and energetic songs of the Heartland!

This is a GREAT for cellists who want to learn about understanding and recognizing harmony while reading and playing music! Especially helpful when playing improv!

Level: Beginners - Advanced

Cost: $15

Includes: Access to audio and music sheet download and/or music packet, misc materials, snacks and drinks and instruction by Dennis Neff.

I learned a lot of interesting things about the structure of bluegrass, gospel, etc music. It was great fun playing the pieces with more understanding about the technical aspects of arranging music. Thanks!

Excellent! Dennis gave great insight into techniques used for harmonizing in fiddle/bluegrass/country/gospel/folk. It was terrific fun playing and listening to all the arrangements he helped us through.

I have the same question as Vicky. The usual password doesn't seem to work.
