What musical instrument(s) do you play?

Cello - Piano

ALL levels of players are welcome! Describe your playing ability: a) which positions are you comfortable with; b) are you presently taking lessons (if not, when was your last one)?; c) what was the last piece you worked on?

Most of my private students are working on their performance ability for college scholarships and acceptances into music schools. I work with solo sonata and concerto works all the way through thumb position. Focusing on rehearsal, efficient practicing and preparing for performances as well as small ensemble groups.

What is your experience playing with a) orchestras; b) chamber ensembles; c) cello choir?

I've performed solo works and sat in sections with many orchestras. Locally I sub for many orchestras but primarily play with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, which I've been with for 14 years. I am cellist with the Voice Of The Wood Cello Quartet for 10 years. Participate in chamber workshops around the country and teach cello performance from my studios in Evergreen and Aurora.

Do you have any particular topics of interest to cellists that you would like to hear addressed in our meetup?

The more cello music the better!

We meet monthly. How often do you expect you will be able to attend a play-in over the next twelve months?

When my schedule permits.

Stephen Weidner - Cellist with Voice of the Wood Cello Quartet, Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, Cello Instructor, Piano Technician, Retired Adjunct Professor, Director of Strings and Conductor at Colorado School of Mines.
