Position Overview

SmartSearch Marketing is looking to hire a senior SEO expert to lead the SEO division of our agency.

As the head of our organic search department, this person will be responsible for SEO standards, practices and procedures as well as optimization tools and technology at the agency. They will develop new and enhanced product offerings, manage large SEO accounts, ensure client satisfaction, implement SEO plans for large, strategic clients, assist with the sales effort, and guide/manage our team of optimization experts.

Strategic thinking, proven leadership, deep industry knowledge and an extensive network of SEO connections are required. This person must be a well-respected expert in the SEO field. Speaking and writing experience are a definite plus. Experience with large, complex SEO programs and/or clients is essential, as well as a proven track record of SEO results.

This position can be located anywhere in the US, although a Colorado location would provide a real advantage, since the agency’s executives are located in Boulder.

The person who fills this position will be a member of the firm’s Senior Management Team, and will collaborate with a small group of agency leaders to determine the overall strategy, growth plan and business solutions that fulfill the company's vision and mission.

Compensation will include a significant base salary plus a leveraged component based on performance, results and workload. For the right candidate, an equity position in the firm will be part of the overall compensation package.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience in business and/or operations management.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.

  • Proven leadership skills, and management experience.

  • Advanced user of desktop applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines.

  • Must be able to work efficiently and prioritize tasks for maximum results.

  • Strong understanding of the entire Search Engine Marketing industry including the major players and supporting technologies.

  • Deep understanding of the SEO sector including key players, supporting technology, trends, tips and best practices.

  • SEO industry connections with search engine experts, peers, partners and specialists.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand client goals and translate into an effective SEO strategy and plan.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow profitable client relationships.
