I'm a postdoc in bioinformatics previously affiliated with Louisiana State University and now with Notre Dame. But I work remotely from beautiful Northern Colorado.
One of my dreams is to make data available to the public. There's a great wealth of publicly available data, but oftentimes those databases are extremely difficult to access and understand (ex. school test scores). I would love to mine that data, reconfigure it, analyze it, and present it back to the public in a more accessible and meaningful way. I'm interested in learning Rails because this might give me a tool to do so.
Hi, I'm a visiting postdoc in biology. I'm doing a lot bioinformatics programming and am learning Ruby. I'm also interested in web based applications (I'm the developer of a very modest program, phylogeoviz.org), and so this workshop sounds great!
