Color correction is a powerful tool in your post production arsenal. Learn how applying it can provide visual cohesiveness as well as create mood and atmosphere.
After graduating from film school at the Pennsylvania State University, Rick Gougler produced a series of short films before migrating to Colorado and taking a job at Western Cine, Denver’s motion picture lab. There he learned the art of color timing. In 1983, he moved into the world of video as colorist at Wickerworks Video Productions, Colorado’s first full-service video post-production house. In his nineteen years at Wickerworks, Rick’s skills evolved along with the color correction tools available, from Rank Cintel’s Colorgrade to the DaVinci Renaissance. Rick was the colorist at 42 Productions for nine years, working on a wide variety of projects ranging from feature films and documentaries to commercials and music videos. He is currently a freelance colorist, experienced with both Apple’s Color, and his favorite tool, DaVinci Resolve.
