Join us for a night of high energy improvisation, electronic textures, and compelling original music. Internationally acclaimed trombonist Rick Parker will be collaborating with local Indian-jazz artist Aakash Mittal to create a program that will transcend cultures and genres. The brooklyn based Parker uses electronics to create avant sound scapes that weave in and out of his improvised melodies. Mittal composes and improvises from a vocabulary that bridges north Indian raga music and jazz.

“Parker hones a seductive, burnished
tone that's animated by conversational
improvisations.” John Murph, Downbeat
"Because of the balance between tough improvisation and bright harmonies coupled with thorough investigations into the rhythms of the music of India, he's [Mittal] already arrived at his own place in the jazz community, where it's difficult to establish an identity."
Bret Saunders, Denver Post
