Betasso MTB Ride - SUNNY Sunday

Sunday looks to be a really nice day in the low 60's and the trails at Betasso are SO SWEET.

We did this ride a month ago and it was a great ride and a super group... so going to take advantage of this warm weather again.
Plan is to ride [or walk] up the Boulder Canyon link trail [not the 4-Mile link trail] and do both loops. Looking for more of an intermediate pace but we will stop to regroup. The short connector trail is slightly technical but the upper loops are pretty darn smooth.

Let's meet at the south west corner of the Justice Center parking lot near the creek path. We will leave close to the 10:30 am time so don't be late!

Figure we will return around 1 pm.
Lunch and a beer or something similar if the group is game.

Beautiful weather, GREAT group (even though I didn't ride with a lot of you :)), gurrr about the cable end breaking, and the womans crash at the bottom of the link trail, other than that, I had a awesome time. Look forward to riding with this bunch AGAIN !!!!

Hey, I have not ridden Betasso yet, but rode up to FourMile Canyon via Boulder Canyon the other day. I have ridden with the group at Marshall Mesa (twice). I am a moderate novice. No problem with hills, but not good on very steep, very rocky terrain. Dowdy Draw decent was iffy for me, but I made it with a few stops. Is it going to be tough for me to hang on this one? Please advise! Thanks.

Hi Miriam. There are a few sections like the Dowdy Draw descent but they are few and fairly short - meaning you can always just walk through them. When I lead a ride I do like to set a quick pace to allow folks who want to ride faster have that option - but I also am fine waiting up at each intersection so everyone can regroup - and also feel comfortable riding the pace they feel comfortable. You mentioned you have no trouble with hills so I would say you should be fine and might even really like the trail. Most of it is really quite smooth and fluid.

    Josh,
You should be fine on this Betasso ride. A few spots tougher than bufflalo creek but they are short and you can just walk over them and continue. this is a good single track ride to start with near boulder. see you Sunday. David

Dave- Can we take the pace from the start up the canyon a tad slower (than last time) so I can warm up. I can do the ride, am in good shape, but, a warm-up is important, and tho it may have easy/slow to you and the other guys, a tad slower would make all the difference to me for the remainder of the ride. Even just for the first 15+ minutes. I'm sure you understand the purpose and benefit of a right kind of warm-up. Thx, Dave

Thanks for the comment. I will again try to emphasize that everyone should ride a pace that they are comfortable and I have no problem waiting for everyone to come back together. I am usually the one who takes a while to warm up but realize that I often ride to the trailhead locally when others are just starting out from our meeting location. See you Sunday.

the first 15-20 minutes are the time I assume I actually can be social b/c the setting is conducive to that potential, more than when we're gonzo up the trail and along single-track trails. At the start, we're able to ride side by side, we can meet each other, chat, etc. Starting out w/ no one around is discouraging to me.
