Announcing a new Meetup for Boulder Beginner/Intermediate Mountain Bikers!
What: Marshall Mesa & Dowdy Draw - 13 mile Loop
When: November 21, 2009 1:00 PM
Marshall Mesa Community Ditch Trail
Hwy 93 & Marshall Rd
Boulder, CO 80301
Man are we overdue for a ride! Travel, work, weather, and waning sunlight have kept me off the trail, but not this weekend!
I'd say this is maybe an intermediate ride given the length, a few climbs, and some rocks (low/mid technicality). Of course, you can always walk your bike on the climbs and rocks if you're not comfortable peddling them. Also, if you're not up for the whole ride there are a few options on the trail where you could split off to make it a shorter ride.
See here for info on the Dowdy Draw and Marshal Mesa trails:http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3017&Itemid=1016http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3000&Itemid=1035
NOTE: As before, disregard the "You are here" arrow on the map in the link above. We will meet at the newer parking lot (depicted with a "P" on the Marshal Mesa trail map) right at the junction of Hwy 93 and Marshal Road.
Here's a profile and route detail on the 13.3 mile loop (thanks Randy!):http://files.meetup.com/1496219/Marshall-Doudy-Springbrook%20loop.jpg
This should take an hour and a half to two hours depending upon how quick we ride. I'll probably be at a moderate pace since I haven't ridden in a month.
