Wildflower hike on the Big Bluestem trail!

This hidden gem is simply the best wildflower hike in Boulder County in the early spring!  We will hike a 4 mile loop on easy terrain to explore the incredible spring wildflowers that abound here! We'll pass through several micro-ecosystems that each hold their own beauty and their own selection of wildflowers!  We may find: wild irises, golden banner, pasqueflower, mouse-eared chickweed, shootingstars, mariposa lilies, and much more!  Another exciting thing about hiking in this area in the spring- there are lots of frogs in the wetlands!!!! Join us!

Let's go see what new flowers blooming!

There is no charge for this meetup, but I would appreciate a donation of $10-20 per person. That allows me to continue offering these outings!  Thanks!

PS. please bring a headlamp in case we get back a bit after dark! And, bring warm layers too!

See the Boulder open space website for more info!

Great meetup! Thank you, Lauren, for sharing your knowledge and love for our natural world! I learned so many new flower names and confirmed that I knew more than I thought, as well!

Thanks for responding on this. I have to walk my dog
after work as he's been sitting inside for 8 hours.
So I will have to pass on todays hike. However, I look forward to going on a dog friendly after work hike.

Are well behaved leashed dogs welcome?

    June 4, 2014

    • Lauren K.

no, I'm sorry. I occasionally have dog friendly outings but they can be distracting when I'm teaching. Plus, I've had dogs come (in the early days of this meetup) and it didn't go well. I have dogs too, so definitely stay tuned for dog friendly outings!

I will be a bit late for this meetup. Will you be easy to find on the trail?

Yes- going on the big bluestem trail first- down the dirt residential road from the trailhead. Call if you have trouble-[masked] :)
