Hike to Marshal Lake from Marshal Mesa Trailhead: Super easy hike

This hike will be MUCH easier than the first. We will meet at the parking lot across the street (93) from the new Eldorado Corner Market gas station. I was thinking of suggesting we hike the Southern end of the Mesa trail, but the parking at that lot costs $5. So, in the spirit of being frugal, we will meet at the parking area across the street from the Edorado Corner Market. The intersection at 93 & Eldorado Springs Drive (170) has a light. The trailhead is called Marshal Mesa; it's about 1.5 miles to the lake. If we want to hike more there are other trails to explore. We can make a plan as a group when we get there and look at the maps. This is a pretty busy location on the weekend so I thought I'd try Thursday evening at 6pm. Please give me feedback about when you would prefer to do this hike. I can't make it this weekend, but if anyone wants to become a co-organizer and host this hike on Saturday or Sunday please let me know.

This was a great hike with it's wonderful views of the mountains and diversity of abundant wild flowers. It was much easier than the NCAR hike to the Mesa trail with it's comparatively much more gradual climbs and descents.

Sorry we missed you Colleen! We didn't start hiking until 6:20 as there was some rain and lightening and we hung out waiting to see what would happen. It all cleared and the hike was wonderful! Nick is such a warm and welcoming host and everyone is very friendly. I had a great time. And Nick's nut bars are tasty and so soft and melt in your mouth. Thank you for sharing Nick!

I'm sad I won't be able to come after all. I slept on my hip in apparently the wrong way last night and walking is rather painful. I barely managed to get chores done this morning. I was really looking forward to today, so I hope for another of these very soon. :(
    I hope you all enjoy!

I checked it out and if one is headed south From Table Mesa, you take a left at hwy 170 and there is a parking lot on the left. However, if you take the first right off of 170 up into the Mesa trail, there is parking in that upper lot for free (the fee collection bin is covered up with plastic). Restrooms are also in that upper parking area. I'll park up there since it's on the way to the trail.

I also assumed you have to pay up there. I always bike so didn't know it was free. Sweet!

Well it was free yesterday with a sign there's no fee, but things could change, heh? Great to know there are 2 places to park!

Sounds like this will be a nice hike as well. I will have to wait for another one that's a bit closer to Longmont. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Melissa, that is so kind of you.Thank you for your generous offer. I am having a bit of a hard time with my progressive hearing loss. We'll see what the ENT's plan for the next couple of days is. Again, thank you. Hope to meet you in person soon.

I'm bringing mine, and Nick is bringing his, so as long as they can get along I don't see why you couldn't. :)

Already have this time booked. Fortunately, my schedule is starting to lighten up a bit so I'm still thinking positively about attending a meetup. Have a great hike!
