This is a 15-mile hike from Hessie trailhead (a mile past the Eldora townsite). We can park at Nederland High School and take the shuttle bus if the parking near the trailhead is full.
Expect snow between Jasper Lake and Devils Thumb Lake. The trail is clear above Devils Thumb Lake. There will be remnants of a cornice to climb over to get onto the pass. I expect it will be melted enough to be safe. From the Divide we descend via Bob and Betty Lakes.
I recommend microspikes, trekking poles, Gore-Tex shoes and gaiters for the snow.
You can turn around at Jasper Lake if you want to do a 10-mile hike.
You can see pictures of the Devils Thumb Pass hike on my Facebook timeline for June 22, 2013.
