Jewelers and metalsmiths of all skill levels are invited to attend a series of exciting and challenging summer workshops. We will investigate a variety of techniques and processes, learn new ways to solve problems in metal, and explore our creative potentials.

8 WEEK COURSE: $350
Introduction to Metalsmithing
June 20 – August 8
Weds 5:30-8:30pm
Develop design skills and technical competency while exploring metalsmithing as an art form.
Major topics covered are: soldering, texturing, cold connections, hinges, small-scale forging, and findings.
No previous experience necessary.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS: $225
Learn the basics of metalsmithing: Make a band ring
Friday, June 22 – Sunday, June 24
Friday: 6 – 8pm
Saturday and Sunday:
9:30 – 5:30pm
Major topics covered: soldering, sawing, filing, and forming

Learn how to etch while making earrings or a pendant

Friday July 13 – Sunday, July 15
Friday: 6 – 8pm
Saturday and Sunday:
9:30 – 5:30pm
Major topics covered: etching, sawing, filing, soldering, and forming

INSTRUCTOR
Amy Johnson is a Master of Fine Arts graduate student at Colorado State University. Her current work uses traditional metalsmithing techniques within larger sculptural art works. She also has a conceptually oriented, and environmentally friendly, jewelry line that uses found objects and recycled metals.
